@lritter Haha, okay. Pretty obvious. I see why they got in a shitstorm now 😆 . The way that the scales are painted on this dragon is an obvious flag of the AI. (Or someone copied/pasted the scales from a photo or vector, and applied a bunch of smoothing, averaging, and sharpening filters). Same with the confusing origin of the tail branching out from the creature's stomach... I thought the people at Wacom had some training in digital painting, or a better eye for computer graphics, but no. 🤣
I found yesterday that hundreds of 2D Artist Magazine where uploaded to the Internet Archive, and I really enjoy browsing them for the quality tutorials, interviews and amazing artist portfolios. I thought some of you here might like it as well: https://archive.org/details/2dartistmagazine
@clacke Thanks! Yes, 🙂 I like to prototype on my sketchbook; it's a good way to put an idea on paper and see if it is a brainfart or something a bit deeper. It also helps me to keep focus when I start Krita: I work better with a target. If I don't, I can paint-over and change ideas forever during the first steps 😅 Thanks for noticing all the little changes on the process!
@wolfger Haha, true. I decided I could probably start with a bit more optimism this year. My first sketch with ballpoint pen had crows, candle, crystal ball and a old grimoire. But I felt sad only looking at it (photo under), so I probably reacted into the opposite direction 🤣
💜 :framasoft: Framasoft does so many things in sync with my values that I'm always so proud when I do illustrations for them.
Check out their campaign page to end 2023 (and support them if you can); it's presented as a 2D character selection of a fighter video game and it was really fun to draw all the characters and monsters:
@thomy2000 Yes, really hard. It's or an homage/cameo or we are artistic soul mate for staging a scene with similar elements. In both case, I'm happy anyway :blobaww: (and the short was good)
@hj :blobcatheart: Yes, that made me smile, because I could also interpret it like a subtle reference. At the end of the short, they reveal the city of Lyon, in France. It was also cool to know where grew the Lofi Girl.
I had a "déjà vu" while watching a scene from the short Snowman on the Lofi Girl channel. The coat, the angles, and details like the red scarf on the snowmen. It's okay, I like it! Stories are totally different and I take it as a compliment if eventually my art went on their preliminary mood board.
@myrmidon I have no idea. I'm just a user. I understand those who are already defederated with them (as my instance), I understand those who are 'waiting and seeing'. But I'm also deeply concerned about those who praise this situation and try to normalise it as something positive. I don't see anything positive in it and I just wanted to say it.
Many people seem to see this Threads federation test as a positive thing, or something to celebrate and I still have no idea why they do. Words missing here.
The recent excitement surrounding Thread's arrival on the Fediverse is concerning. To understand why this is not a good idea, consider their economic interest in harvesting data, their poor moderation, and their manipulations. Nothing good can come from their federation. Don't roll out the red carpet for them.
My version of the character Ada from "Ada & Zangemann", a Creative Commons license (BY-SA) book for children and a funny story about Free/Libre and Open-Source. It's written by Matthias Kirschner and illustrated by Sandra Brandstätter. It is great to see new characters in the Free Culture, especially because Ada is so cool. 💜 You can find it printed in English, French, German, Italian → https://fsfe.org/activities/ada-zangemann/
@mhunt Hey, thanks for the link! (at 1:42; while drawing the eyes, big display lag) Oh, I'm pretty sure I'll have them on my email soon. The tricky part is always when I tell them I want to test without the proprietary driver and on Linux. That's where most disapear or don't reply 😂 We'll see!
🍄 I write and draw the webcomics Pepper & Carrot and Mini Fantasy Theater.
