Actually, it’s important to note that there are still Mayan, Aztec, Pueblo and other indigenous people. Too often we talk about indigenous communities as if those people no longer exist.

Thomas (thomas@laserdisc.party)'s status on Sunday, 17-Sep-2023 05:30:03 JST Thomas We know a bit about those huge cities in Mexico, Central, and South America There are also a ton of sites in North America like Cahokia where tens of thousands of people lived. There just aren’t stone monoliths or pyramids remaining so we don’t ever talk about them

Thomas (thomas@laserdisc.party)'s status on Sunday, 17-Sep-2023 05:30:01 JST Thomas I hate AI art, but I couldn’t find what I wanted elsewhere, so here’s some ideas of what Mesoamérican futurist architecture might look like. I like the absurd Aztec pyramid. I included “colorful” in the prompt.
This isn’t to say there’s not representative architecture out there, because of course there is. The idea is like, without colonial influence, what might it be

Thomas (thomas@laserdisc.party)'s status on Sunday, 17-Sep-2023 05:30:00 JST Thomas More fun Aztec facts: they were a nearly 0 waste society. There were public toilets all over Tenochtitlán where they collected excrement to use as fertilizer. Food scraps went right back into the fields or to feed animals.
Things that could be burned, like old rags or whatever, were used in Rie he’s that illuminated the city. All of this helped to keep the water of the lake clean for drinking and irrigation.

Thomas (thomas@laserdisc.party)'s status on Sunday, 17-Sep-2023 05:29:55 JST Thomas When the conquistadors arrived, over 200,000 people lived in Tenochtitlán. It was larger, cleaner, better lit, and more beautifully constructed than any city in Europe. Crops flourished and a network of interconnected waterways brought people into town on their canoes like highways on the water

Thomas (thomas@laserdisc.party)'s status on Friday, 15-Sep-2023 09:49:31 JST Thomas There’s this meme going around where women are asking their boyfriend or husband how often they think about the Roman Empire and apparently a lot of guys think about it a lot, like many times a week. I don’t!
Sometimes I think about like, what if Columbus and all them never came to America? What would they have accomplished without violent intervention? What does Mesofuturism look like?

Buddy, the Inca had over 20,000 miles of road through the Andes mountains and the desert. They had bridges stretching across chasms 15,000 feet in the air

Thomas (thomas@laserdisc.party)'s status on Thursday, 24-Aug-2023 11:12:03 JST Thomas I really can't stop reflecting on this. The police, a group of people backed by state power, who are ostensibly there to "serve and protect" stole more from people than burglars did last year. And it's not like they solved the burglaries! The "clearance rate" meaning actually SOLVING crimes is 54% nationally
