@silverwizard Find a really, truly expensive GAN that can do the whole video from a single prompt and a still image of one of the Patch stickers.
Charge the whole damn thing to our personal development budget.

"Patch your submission for a recorded video presentation on how AI is helping you do your job is overdue."
"No it's not, it was finished the day it was assigned."
"You haven't turned anything in"
"Exactly."
I should dig up that old weather service voice synth and shove a script into it, then just submit the .wav file.
... I'm going to do that right now
It's weird to be watching something that isn't a scifi show and have everyone sharing data on tablets.
Fuckin' century is this?
I really need to make a label for my laptop that says "this machine has no gnosis."
@silverwizard Data tape.
Which I suppose is a format I need to learn more about before I go looking for actual hardware, lest I box myself into whatever the hell the stable backup version of "betamax" is.
I feel like "USB-A 3.0 Tape Drive" is a product that should exist and yet, here I sit, doubting very much I'd find one.
@silverwizard It started as a fun "challenge" for various team-mates to try and complete.
Then when they got effectively 0 buy-in, they made it soft-mandatory.
Now I'm told that it'll be held against folks at review-time if they don't particpate.
I'm about ready t burn the office down.
I have been assigned a mandatory work item to document how the use of AI has benefited me at work.
I wonder how the fuck I could possibly stretch "I occasionally find Teams call transcripts useful in the most abstract way" into a 20 minute video.
@silverwizard I'm guessing that there's probably a non-negligible contingent of "webmaster@foo.bar" addresses that go to Mork from Marketing who has no more idea how their web stack is actually configured than I do how the hell Office365 works so that's valid.
This scam is AMAZING.
Imagine pretending to be the hosting service for a fucking sysadmin.
How badly do you have to not understand how these things work to think that the person who owns and configured the fucking server would fall for this?
There's a common adage in computer science that naming things is the hardest problem in computer science.
And that's not actually true.
It's just the hardest problem.
#writerscoffeeclub for February 12:
What percentage of your first draft ends up in the trash?
This is like asking "when you cook a potato, how much peel ends up in the trash". It depends on how you're cooking the potato.
I've sent first drafts to print with merely minor copy editing. I've thrown whole projects out after the first draft.
There is no 'mean' figure of discardable writing.
@ryanc The combination of leetspeak and the inherent reference has caused me to dry up into tomb dust and blow away, thanks much.
Well, my bosses have decided that even though I can name about five combinations of any two of our retail clients who outspend the entire USGov contract pile, they're going to bend the knee to the EOs and suspend our DEI board.
I need a new job by monday, and at this point I'm willing to wash dishes to do it. But if you know anyone who needs a Principal or Senior SRE, or could use a python dev for some backend-related purpose, I can be found at: mercenary AT arcanalabs DOT ca
Carcinization accellerationists, call that
Immenentizing the crustacean
At this point, if one of you doesn't remove him from office, I will.
Profoundly unacceptable response to an outgoing head of government "Oh we should just annex you."
Ask James Madison how the fuck that goes.
@silverwizard You mean the sudden change of useful headphone base prices from sub-ten-bucks to whatever it costs for even cheap BT headsets?
Yeah, almost certainly.
@mcc Miniminuteman being miniminuteman, it probably contains nothing but the actual, incredibly boring truth about the bass pro shops pyramid.
@silverwizard I'm rusty, I thought that was Glorfindel.
