@jessamyn It’s just super-impressive to see how many pages you have created in the quest to fill in the blanks! That’s really awesome!
I often will see that a page is missing and think “I should go add that one”… but then a quick search for reliable sources turns up *few*, and so I know it’s going to be harder… so I put it aside… and, well, I never get back to it. :-(
So kudos to you for making all these pages happen!
(I also like your threading of the msgs here on Mastodon.)
@WarnerCrocker Here in northwestern Vermont (near Burlington) a dozen of the store-brand eggs are $4.29 in a couple of the big chains. Other brands are higher.
(The caveat is that our prices have generally always been higher than other parts of New England.)
Whether is is actually deploying in the field to help set up WiFi and charging stations, or helping remotely, VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED! You can sign up at that link to help with connecting communities in crisis. (Currently ITDRC is US-based, but other similar orgs are out there in other places.)
Who are the thought leaders you pay attention to about electrical / power / energy resilience? Either for keeping the power grid online, or for distributed energy resources and options? (Or both?) Who are the people talking about adapting our energy infrastructure to ensure we continue to have power in the face of climate change? And are any of them talking about the linkage between energy resilience and Internet resilience? (No power = no Internet access) Interested in learning more!
My only good shot from totality (after I remembered to take the filter off the lens! 🤦♂️🤣). Totality was amazing and so I was drinking it all in. Temps dropped a good 10 degrees F, mosquitoes came out, the birds stopped singing, everyone’s solar lights came on, and it was incredibly dark. Really amazing! And then it was over and everything started returning to normal!
It's very disappointing that potentially as many as 60 million US citizens may lose their affordable Internet access because the US Congress has politicized things and so far failed to act:
This was an easy blog post for me to write! There is so much wrong with the State of Nevada’s request for an injunction to prevent Meta from rolling out end-to-end encryption in Facebook Messenger. For starters, WhatsApp has had E2EE since 2016, Apple iMessage since 2011 … and more.
Hopefully the district court in Nevada will agree and NOT allow the injunction! We’ll see.
Spending much of my day as a volunteer election worker helping at the polls. Today is both the Vermont Presidential Primary (part of “Super Tuesday”) and also “Town Meeting Day ” where we vote on our town budget, school budget, and yes, for a new fire engine 🚒 and a new ambulance 🚑 🙂 . My particular role is a fairly easy one.. I stand near the tabulator machine in case there are issues with it.. and I give out stickers! 😃
