@aral@staff@haubles I like what you describe as a default option and process.
I do think, though, that moderators/admins should reserve the right to use deletion for content that is illegal or a massive violation of terms of service. If someone posts CSAM, for instance, I don’t think you as an admin *want that on your server*. That kind of vile stuff needs to be removed, in my opinion. If I operated an instance (I don’t), I would want to do that.
First time seeing a “NO META GLASSES” sign in the door of a shop! I’m not surprised… and I expect we might see more of these kind of things in the years ahead.
@Gargron That is an awesome shirt! Any chance you might get a US vendor who could print and ship here? It’s $18.99 for DHL shipping to the US which is significant!
Today’s goal.. join with @bortzmeyer in posting about #IETF activity at #IETF125 to bring a bit more awareness here in the Fediverse to the amazing work so many volunteers are doing to make the #Internet work better through #OpenStandards !
(If you don’t follow Stéphane, he does a lot of great posting about Internet topics, open source, and much more. He’s a great person!)
Wow! Fascinating to see the drop in #Starlink traffic out of the #Ukraine once terminals that were not approved were disabled! Clearly others were using the Starlink network...
@killyourfm Okay… now I am feeling very old when you said ER aired more than 30 years ago!! 🤯🤣 We used to watch it all the time when it came out - and it *was* such a powerful show!
Which of the zillion streaming services has it available? It would be fun to see it again.
Forty years ago, 21 people gathered for the first meeting of what became the Internet Engineering Task Force or #IETF . Every day billions of people use the open standards and technologies developed in the IETF. And nearly 8000 volunteer IETF participants from around the world collaborate in more than 100 working groups evolving those open standards and making the Internet work better!
@evan I answered “Always” because most people on the planet know of New York, and “Dan York” is short and simple. However, reading some of the other replies, I realized that I do sometimes get variations on “Dan”. I say it with the shorter “a” of “pan” or “can”, but some people will say it sounding more like “D-ah-n” or even “Don”. It’s still close enough to be fine by me. 😃
I’m looking forward to being in Montreal for #IETF124 in a couple of hours (a 2 hour drive from my house in Vermont). A fun personal fact… the very *first* #IETF meeting I attended in-person was IETF 66… *19 years ago* … in Montreal!
At that time in 2006 I was focused on voice-over-IP and various elements of the SIP protocol, and various elements of VoIP security. Many IETF meetings later, my focus is different, but still looking to help make the Internet work better!
Q for #WordPress users - is there a site / service where you could give it the URL for a site and see what WordPress theme might be closest to the current look of the site?
I have a number of sites to migrate to WordPress (from TypePad) and I'm looking for a quick way to find a basic theme that provides similar features to what I have in the different sites?
