@coolboymew I wish there was a good place online to talk to people who actually know what they're talking about, but it seems to mostly be closed circles, it's sad. 3chan tech board was pretty good but thats dead now, as is 8/tech/ which was a bit better than /g/. Also, I can program, but to me that's the least interesting part of this all, while on these tech boards that and le latest gpu seems to be everybodys focus. And yet they can barely write a fizzbuzz in python and make constant threada about it like it's a flex. Where is actual in depth hardware discussion, new or old, the technicalities and inner workings, the details. Where is the same for software, niche programs and systems, their ABIs, interesting novel concepts and ideas. Nobody has even a single project to share? How can you call this your hobby? I feel like a tech board should at least know as much about tech as /jp/ does about 2hu lore, and yet it's not even close. I wanna have actual discussions, but the most anybody knows on these few boards is "hey look at this thing its cool". Which is a real shame. I now know a few people I can talk to about more interesting in depth details of various things in tech, but only for a few small areas, and there's seemingly no place for these people to congregrate, except, as usual, private invite only groups that used to be public when good forums existed and then the ladder to become part of the circle was pulled up behind them. Honestly it's like that with any group with in depth knowledge or any subject matter, used to have public congregations, people who were known active members made private groups, public space disappears, and elitism keeps the only good discussions in private invite only groups that shrink with time. It really really fucking sucks honestly. And on a lot of these things, how am I supposed to learn more and become expert if I cannot find discussions about such things? The answer is you're not, their elitist attitudes prevent them from discussing with those they consider below their level. And /g/ somehow manages that elitism with seemingly pervasive mental retardation and dunning kruger tech enjoyers, rather than tech hobbyists.

@yura ofc they did, at the same time as they gave up on the BRIEF support for ukraine to support russia again, supposedly over an oil deal as if russia can provide any meaningful amount of oil even if ukraine stopped attacking the facilities. the deal has russia giving in total less oil than america needs in a single day. can't tell if trump is really that stupid or its just a terrible excuse to support russia again. and ofc russia has their own version of starlink, but ukraine can't feasibly do that. hell, theres a seperate military version of starlink being used, and that is ran by the u.s. military themselves. terrible timeline, i hate them, i'll probably hate them even more when the drones start flying into latvia soon as part of the nato attack.
and yeah, the best defense for drones is more drones, and theres alternatives, but to keep up with the high speed ones, nothing comes close to a high speed reliable satellite network, other wireless networks are slower or easier to shut down. could use missiles without a satellite network, but you'd quickly run out as one costs billions of dollars, on costs 100s of dollars at most. america and russia are the same type of evil, theres no good "side" please god let this end soon.

@mia @snacks they're both kinda sterotypical americans in the worst ways, especially one of them. jingoist fuck who starts arguments about everything and even when they obviously don't know what they're talking about claim they won by just shouting over u agressively. solution to everything that has a working solution in the rest of the world is "no that wouldn't work we need to just kill them" american never lost any wars type. i recently got very fucking pissed listening to them make a totally retarded not remotely accurate rant trying to explain to ME the details of whats going on with the russia nato thing, and those worthless baltic states that they should be able to have because nobody cares about them and they're basically russian anyway 😡 and ofc everything he said was wrong and pulled out of his ass, but dont you dare try to correct him on anything ever cuz he'll just insist he's right and the smartest even when clearly making shit up. that one really pissed me off because this was a bit ago when i was really fucking stressed out about it and there was all the nato freakout about it coming soon and shit and seemingly latvia's the top target if not one of the multiple targets. a funnier retardation they do is also insist their right on pronouncing anything that would be written in a cyrillic script, because some ancestor of his generations back is ukrainian, and he'll mention it like he's pure ukrainian so he would know. he doesn't, he can't read cyrillic, he can't even pronounce a significant amount of ENGLISH words correctly, in really far off laughable ways. but no he clearly knows better than me, who used to speak russian at a basic level and am completely fluent in cyrillic. also any cultural stuff that overlaps with russia or ukraine and latvia, he also insists on knowing better about, but doesn't know anything about and pulls out his ass. like you know those people who misprounounce basic loan words like jalepeño? imagine that but ten times worse, dž uh læ p i (as in bit) o. it's so stupid. i'll occasionally see something in russian or rather and read it, usually names, and he'll insist it's wrong and pronounce it like if you tried to read cyrillic as latin script, and then on top of that make the same americanism grotesque mispronounciation shit. but nope he knows more about eastern europe culture and history than me clearly, having never been introduce even once to anything about ukraine or anywhere else there he just claims he knows better because he's ukrainian by like a drop of blood and never being introduced to the culture. i mean its infuriating but it's kinda funny at the same time unlike the other argumentative narcissist shit lol. so narcissistic he thinks he's an such expert on eastern europe that he's always right and i know nothing because while i lived there and was raised in the culture he's a pureblooded ukrainian (great great grandpa was or some shit at most). says the guy who would pronounce borscht as burskuhut.
he's so fucking mean though that usually my interactions with him end with me breaking down crying really fucking hard when he leaves, i refuse to ever go do something with him around ever again, and i hide out in my room when he's home. but sometimes i'm in the living room or i come home and he's there and i can't avoid it and it's really bad and i hate it i hate him i hope he dies he's a mean evil narcisstic person and he makes the perpetrators of my severe childhood abuse look like fucking saints he's evil i hope he fucking dies and kills himself, idk why he hasn't already, he has no friends and sits inside all day and for some fucking reason still takes several days off work like every other week. he can only work strong union job because he would be fired immediately anywhere else and i'm honestly shocked he hasn't been fired from even his job considering he ditches it constantly, not to go do something, but to stay at home and play videogames and watch youtube. like istfg he does not leave like i have literally never seen him leave to do ANYTHING other than on RARE occasion pick up food that he can't get delivered on doordash. he doesn't even go shopping. he's just a mean abusive meanace who obsessively constantly attacks everyone aroudn him (probably why he has nobody) and tries to prove he's right about literally everything when theres no fucking arguments or even debates being had, and when he's almost 100% of the time extremely wrong. i hate him so much i wish he did have friends honestly, not because he deserves it, but because i'm sick of him being at home the vast majority of time including like half the days he should be fucking working. ;_;
