    Linocut people: I have some old blocks I'd like to make fresh prints with. Some are a quarter century old. Is there any particular prep you do before using old lino? (To be clear: I'm just printing, not carving.) (Boosts fappreciated if your community might know!)

    @RueNahcMohr @foone it's often useful to add a "limit" or "last" element to an enum to make bounds checking easier; (x < tLim) will quickly tell you if you have a valid value

    AI is already dead; we are pivoting to crabs. Within 5-6 years 80% of all jobs will be crabs. Begin hardening your dermis into a tough durable exoskeleton now or be left behind. Economic carcinization is coming

    So, turning off the data harvesting AI features also kills the automatic tab organization in gmail. And you know what? Gmail is _much faster now_. It's way more responsive, and I'm missing less mail because it ended up in a different folder. I'm slowly turning gmail back into pine! Maybe it's time to switch back to pine? (Ok, mutt.)

    @futurebird when I was a kid I remember every gym in the world having a vibrating belt machine left over from the 60s; to the best of my knowledge the only thing they contributed to the world was making middle aged men's belly fat jiggle in screwball comedies

    @RikerGoogling
    NO, Jedi do not wear underpants. In a 1997 interview, George Lucas explained that "it was very important for me, as an auteur, to make sure that the audience understood that their Jedi ding-dongs were just waving around proud and free under those robes all day. That's the reason I didn't give lightsabers scabbards. It's a kind of analogy, like a rhyme." This was his final word on the subject before Lucas's untimely death in December 2000.

    Fedi, help me solve a fifty year old mystery. These are the dominoes from my childhood. They're wooden, but they have a very detailed pattern impressed in them. What kind of wood are these? And how did they manage to emboss such an elaborate pattern? (Scale: these are about 1" x 1/2")

    Hey, electronics/retroelectronics folk! I have here a batch of 200 ATMega644P microcontrollers (40-pin DIP package) that need a home. These are the ones that we used in Sanguinos, gen3 reprap electronics, and first-generation Makerbots. Happy to ship them within the US; I'm just trying to keep them out of the trash. Please reboost!
