So I managed to fuck up #Gnome keyring on my desktop.
No clue *how* I managed that. But apparently I did. :blobfoxconfused:
You know what? That made my distrohopping decision easier. Maybe something immutable for my gaming PC.

Are you fucking serious with that ending?
@skinnylatte I just had a truly outstanding torta for lunch, and I am jealous of that food.
@steter this is actually default behavior in all desktops, including Windows. Steam closes to the task bar.
I've never been a fan of close to task bar apps.
So if you look down the thread here, you'll find that @elementary and @kde are like the first to comment with congrats and well wishes for Gnome.
(Incidentally, congrats on the release, Gnome, y'all worked really hard on this one)
This is, in my opinion, how the Open Source community *should* be: we support each other and celebrate our accomplishments. We don't tear down projects just because we don't like their goals, their UI, or their choice of init process or whatever.
It's a big world, and if the project leaders and community members aren't hurting anyone, that's good enough for me.
@gamingonlinux please, for the love of words having actual meaning and being useful for communication, I beg you:
Stop calling everything with random elements a "roguelike".
This is not a roguelike. Balatro isn't a roguelike. Slay the Spire isn't a roguelike.
In order to be a roguelike, and I can't believe I have to say this, the game must in some way RESEMBLE THE GAME ROGUE.
@skinnylatte the affectation for white meat has baffled me for literally decades. I long ago discovered that dark meat - particularly thigh - has a richer flavor, is much easier to cook properly, and (here in the US anyway) costs as much as 25% less per pound.
I feel like it must be the result of an ad campaign or something.
@BonehouseWasps go grab Linux Mint:
All instructions are right there on the website. Without knowing your plans for the laptop, this is the beat default answer.
@cwebber I'm more of an OpenRC or dinit kind of Owlbear personally. Also, Guix doesn't support my laptop's hardware (imma be a lot more careful about my next laptop…)
(edited to change NY to my. Thanks autocorrect, you're really worth the hassle...)
So here's an idea for a campaign. Reverse Isekai: you were a fantasy hero who "died", but instead of the afterlife you were expecting, you appear in the modern world. You retain your "class abilities" and whatever.
Is this something?
Fun fact: Daleks measure time in "rels" which are about the same length as seconds.

So, hey, Fedibuddies. The Owlbear has a question.
What other part of the #Fediverse is worth joining? I'm a #nerd, a #ttrpg fan, a #Golarian obsessive, a #movie fan, an #indiegame fan. I have other interests too, like #poetry #ScienceFiction and #SCP. I'm a long-time #Linux user with a #Gnome preference. I'm very, very #NoAI
Oh, and I swear. It's not a hobby it a lack of a filter, I'm just big on self expression and saying what you mean.
So all that in mind, are there any other corners of the Fediverse I should be poking around in? And if so, got an instance where I'd be welcome in mind?
Time for the Owlbear to crawl under about 20 pounds worth of binkie and get some sleep. It's not exactly late, but since my dog has decided I have to wake up at 0500…
Flynn: Son of Crimson is an action platformer where you and your big furry buddy save the world.
Honestly story wise, it doesn't have much going on. The pixel are it really good, and the soundtrack is pretty great, but those aren't super special either.
So why recommend it, you ask?
Because it's charming as hell, and the execution here is just fantastic. It controls well, has a fair challenge with a reasonable difficulty curve, and it basically does all the fundamentals right.
And it should be rewarded for that. It's just a good game, fam, and I like it.
I just got followed by a mermaid! What an honor! Your people are legendary, and held in great esteem by we Owlbears.
@Thatmermaid_J, us fictional creatures gotta stick together.
#Monsterdon well Mark, was it worth it?
Capitalism at work friends.
#Monsterdon well fam, that certainly was a movie.
And we watched it.
And… yeah.
Anyway, goodnight! That was fun, let's do it again next week!
VOTE ALLIGATOR!
Yes, go investigate the spacecraft by yourself. Way to have survival instincts.
"I think we lost him."
You lost a bear in a forest?
No shit, huh?
I don't believe I've heard that much wrong science since …
Wait, never mind. Not gonna get political.
Borris Karloff was 6 feet tall.
I'm only pointing it out for the next time you see him standing next to Vincent Price.
Partner, Veteran, puppy parent. I like lots of nerdy stuff, mostly indie games and Linux. Oh, and science. And ttrpgs. And… look, the Owlbear is a nerd, alright? Also, I'm an Owlbear. My profile picture is a character from a (modded) Starbound game - a pixel art character with goggles on her head.Follow me for game recommendations, weird short fiction, mediocre poetry, and poor proofreading!I swear often.
