I've been expecting something like this since the XZ hack, but still ... frustrated/annoyed/sad to see Microsoft and 13 (!) partners jointly announcing that their answer is to “educate” open source maintainers.
It's nice that they're compensating maintainers for the time spent on that training, but ... compliance with corporate security policies is still a whole lot of ongoing, unpaid work after that? Sigh.
It was a huge honour for me today with Raphael to posthumously hand over the European #SFSAward 2024 to #vim developer Bram Moolenaar for his invaluable contributions to the #FreeSoftware community.
If you are a #vim user, have been an #vim user, or admire Bram's work, please boost this message.
@drwho if it's a Free Software license, then it respects freedom zero: the freedom to run the program for *any purpose*. I'd think any lawyer would understand that... :)
@evan Yeah, but in public (on the street, sitting in a coffee shop, etc) you do not stand on a pulpit, so there isn't the expectancy of an open conversation,v you have an expectancy of privacy even if it's not real privacy (much like standard non encrypted email).
Posting openly in a social network is similar, to me, to standing on a pulpit.
To me, if one is talking in public, one is always subject to anyone close by joining in, even if undesired in which case one is entitled to say "excuse me, bub, would you mind your own business?"
In the particular case of social networks, each account writing to public is on a little pulpit of it's own, as such engagement is expectable by default by others following.
Social networks *could* have a setting where an account would define that it only receives messages from its contacts.
So I updated my pam module that allows #IBM#AIX to integrate with #FreeIPA to a much improved release.
If there are any people who care, could they help me fix https://www.freeipa.org/page/ConfiguringAixClients by adding information on how to actually have HBAC instead of the very poor man's example in that page?
@LIVRE E que medidas propõem? #ChatControl ?
