I must say, I am torn. In the 90s and early 2000s I was very much opposed to the overly strict and expansive copyright (“Disney laws”) pushed back then. But I am not sure I appreciate the reversal, given the reasons and benefactors… I’m with you in that regard.

Still, free software was always a hack of copyright law. Maybe this is fine?

Note that copyright would never have been as strict as it is in most countries had the US not pushed for that. And now the US starts pushing in the opposite direction, well…

In the end, these are legal claims that will be (are being) adjudicated in court. And, lawmakers can modify these rules.

I am quite sure that AI generated code, even if considered a copyright problem by a court at one point or another, will be made legal. The stakes are too high for lawmakers not to.

That’s not a moral judgement, to be clear. Just my belief of what will happen.

@bert_hubert @niels @Karlitschek I don't know what this is, but if it is/was decided at company level to send info on user profiles to us, I'm pretty sure I'd know about it. And I don't. Nor did we change our ToS because we don't have one 🤔

Buuuut bugs exist. And there are 300 apps in our app store that we can't all check line by line. So I assume this could be a security issue. Please, @niels could you report this with the logs to our security team? Use hackerone.com/nextcloud
