    At that point, might as well just have a blog with a comments section you control.

    No point in making the fediverse into essentially just twitter with hosting costs outsourced from the company making money off it.

    It's honestly one of the most infuriating parts of the political polarization speedrun shit that's going on right now. Mention the wrong shit off-handedly, and you're either risking a ban from a chat or the local politsperg turning the cool gamer discord into internet bloodsports with more brain-damaged participants (and less entertainment value) under the premise winning an internet fight will totally make your guys win bro.

    @PhenomX6 Conceptualizing it as an identity thing instead of just what parts you've got downstairs has certainly made it easier for pharma companies and plastic surgeons to make money.

    Honestly, I can't really say that's something that feels entirely unfamiliar.

    I've alway kind of had some sort of sustained interest in what it'd be like to be something besides what I actually am irl (species, sex, whatever). Not really as something overpowering to a crippling degree, but definitely something I've no doubt entertained fantasies of in hard times in absence of likely better coping mechanisms.

    I suppose it's probably part of the appeal of the furry thing on some base level, and it's not really like I'd pass up an opportunity to be a character I've poured bits of my self into- but a lot of the "community" related to it online feels to me like a warning about not going too far.
