In the last week we watched the Indian films “RRR” and “Baahubali 1 &2” and I cannot stop wondering how strange American cinema must be to everyone else in the world.
@hypolite@Khrys They’re going to need to change the assessment strategy, for sure. Possibly going back to old-school (SWIDT?) hand-written essays, or holding them in a surveilled online environment.
@hypolite@djlink Less dependency on subscription revenue and a return to retail pricing. The value of surveillance is in a race to the bottom, in terms of what buyers of the data are willing to pay.
@djlink It’s just a response to the current economics. The cost of money (interest rate) is going up, and the supply of revenue (ad spend) is going down. Money has to come from somewhere.
@djlink Subscriptions have become very popular of late, to be sure. It seems to be a more palatable way to generate revenue right now. Like anything, I’m sure the pendulum will swing back.
2022 by the numbers: 79.6 hours, 55 landings, 7.2 actual IMC, 5.2 hours night, 46 complex/retract, 20 high performance. Flew P28A, P28B, P28R, P32R, and C150. Most exotic airport: TFFG, Saint Martin. First year I landed at Class Bravo airports: KIAD (Washington/Dulles), KORD (Chicago/O’Hare).
Back in the cold, cold hangar at KMIC after departing Midway three hours ago. Michelle was at the flight controls and I did comms from the right seat the whole way.
Since I need to worry about something before a big flight, I’m researching crankcase breather tubes clogging with ice before Friday’s -5°F/-20°C departure. Ours has a whistle cut, but I’ll still be inspecting it when we refuel. #flyga#aviation#mnwx#cold
It took me longer to push the plane back over the ice and snow into the hangar than it did to do three takeoffs and landings to a full stop, but I’m night current again. With last week’s Instrument Proficiency Check I’m as ready as I can be ahead of this week’s trip.
