I don't know who this councillor is who just said to a woman who is crying on camera about her kid sister who died in a collision "Sorry that happened to that person" but we have to "discuss the trade-offs."

It connects my brain to my body.

It makes me better at interoception and at practice.

It makes me listen to the kindergarten teacher in my head, not the zero-tolerance judge.

It makes me say things that are true. It encourages me to give in to braver impulses. Sometimes it manages patience and acceptance.

Helps with food.

Waited three hours to learn that the service I was waiting to see a doctor for wasn't available today.

There was nothing on their website or intake form that said this.

I got an appointment out of it, at least. And a form for blood tests. And a recommendation for vitamin D. And my current weight.

And also a reminder of how impossible I find it to answer out-loud / on-the-spot questions from medical gatekeepers that require (a) interoception, (b) a sense of time, and/or (c) a family history.

Today's cross-section of humanity included:

- a man using an assistive device who gave me his thoughts on how fast the snow should melt,

- a man asking for directions while holding a tiny dachshund,

- three young people demonstrating fairness and kindness,

- a child who was louder and more energetic than I would have preferred,

- a man who insisted on giving loud and lengthy answers to questions despite having no relevant information.

@monstreline Sometimes I want to track down all the people who told me, starting when I was twelve, that I'd change my mind and want a kid someday and yell at them that I'm 47 now and I was right and they were wrong.
