“The failure of trusted institutions to do what we expect them to — keep people safe, protect them, hold bad actors accountable — deepens trauma and its costs to individuals and collectives by eviscerating social trust. The trauma stems not only from interpersonal violence but also from the awareness that a collective body purporting to be just and protective is the opposite, instead more likely to punish the vulnerable than to help them.”
I don't know who this councillor is who just said to a woman who is crying on camera about her kid sister who died in a collision "Sorry that happened to that person" but we have to "discuss the trade-offs."
Waited three hours to learn that the service I was waiting to see a doctor for wasn't available today.
There was nothing on their website or intake form that said this.
I got an appointment out of it, at least. And a form for blood tests. And a recommendation for vitamin D. And my current weight.
And also a reminder of how impossible I find it to answer out-loud / on-the-spot questions from medical gatekeepers that require (a) interoception, (b) a sense of time, and/or (c) a family history.
@monstreline Sometimes I want to track down all the people who told me, starting when I was twelve, that I'd change my mind and want a kid someday and yell at them that I'm 47 now and I was right and they were wrong.
@Fragglemuppet Went for a long walk. Read some documents in preparation for a meeting tonight. Checked in with some friends, including by sending some music. Made pita chips. Not sure any of that’s really interesting. :)
