@Zonz@jeffcliff cool, thanks for investigating that for us. Sounds like a pain to do it per track rather than leave it on by default for all tracks.
And it explains why I rarely see it on artists' tracks in general. So for me to automate downloading tracks from SC is not likely possible for most tracks, like I thought, even if I was able to get api access, which last I checked was very hard or not even possible.
@Zonz@jeffcliff ok. Is there an option to make your tracks publicly downloadable? If it is, but is "off" by default, then it would be "opt in" if you had to turn it on.
@jeffcliff since @Zonz made the song above, he would know better than I, what SoundCloud provides to artists who want to make their tracks downloadable.
@jeffcliff unfortunately that's very difficult for several reasons
Most of the songs aren't available for download. I think it is something artists need to opt into per song, and I rarely see them do that. Maybe b/c it might be a paid feature of SC.
Soundcloud shutdown public access to their api years before I started this project. That's why I built a webscraper just to get my public reposts
storage space for the mp3s would probably require me to upgrade my vps
I don't have time to write the backend for all this
also, this is about promoting the artists, more than anything. It encourages people to go to their SC profile where artists usual link to their BC or other sites to buy their music.
I made a bot to post songs from independent, underground electronic musicians on SoundCloud!https://soundcloud.com/sourcreampringles/reposts#EditorsPickOfTheDay is where I occasionally post bonus songs or reviews of albums I bought.I almost exclusively follow unknown, independent producers who have very few followers.I listen to them all and fish out the diamonds in the rough. You would be surprised how much undiscovered talent there is!======================Note: this is bot is mirrored by@sourcreampringles_SoundCloud@noauthority.social
