Web of trust kind of works for hiding bots on nostr but there's no way to do that on the bridge so Fediniggers have to deal with more nostr spam than actual nostards do
A janny can just manually reset someone's password, get access to keys, and keep messaging people as that person. It will show unverified but if you don't know how it works, you won't think to verify.
So if you do use Matrix, you only want to use one run by a company that you can realistically take legal action against if they lie to you. Why is it federated? It seems like it would be more secure if it weren't.
Matrix seems to be built on compromise at every turn. It wants to be everything and isn't particularly good at anything. It's not bad it's just not good.
They want to make it as easy as Discord and they do that by automating key management in a way that's extremely unhelpful for the security of a normal person. You're probably safer using WhatsApp than you are Matrix. You're DEFINITELY safer using Signal than you are Matrix.
@RustyCrab@meso@sleepingnevi@adachi There's not much evidence that sugar alternatives are actually unhealthy, it's mostly just Internet schizos, and people don't know where those alternatives come from, so they're distrustful by default.
People think they're synthesized in a lab or something, when it's just plants other than corn and sugar cane that aren't as Calorically dense.
It's not that it's a miracle substance, it's just that sugar is particularly bad unless it's scarce.
@mischievoustomato@scathach@hidden@eemmaa@maija@nerthos Well I'm glad this devolved from a sex talk thread to a flirting thread to a thread about literal asshole sores. You can always count on Fedi to bring out the worst in everyone.
