    i had this vivid memory of smoking weed at my plugs house watching phineas and ferb (never seen this show before) and the episode had a plot line about phineas being addicted to Dwarf Fortress and showing the text based gameplay and everything and i know that it doesn't actually exist but im not sure how i hallucinated something like that

    my point is that you cannot accurately evaluate how well a project is maintained without investing a lot of time and knowing a lot things.

    nobody is choosing based off of community vibes or responsiveness to PRs.

    the current state is one where we can only assume anything written will be completely unmaintained and it will be up to you to fix any known issues (lol if its a security issue and you are not an expert).

    you are right that making things is the easy part, and maintaining them is the effortful part, but there is no incentive to build a reputation anymore because the whole FOSS paradigm is fucking broken and for suckers.
