@skinnylatte so far I'm finding I don't mind shared rooms at hostels any more than I did when I was 20. But so far American hostels are less social than when I was bumming around Europe back in the day. Hoping to find a decent hostel in Los Angeles next week.

Departure on the CA Zephyr is ~40 hours away! Last minute frenzy of preparation for a three week train-maxxing trip to wring the value out of an Amtrak USA Rail Pass. First part is Zephyr-Southwest Chief-Coast Starlight-Empire builder. Will have a multi-day layover to visit family and friends in the Seattle area. So excited! #amtrak #AmtrakTravel

@skinnylatte There was another big outage in 2017 from a fire at the Larkin St. substation at Larkin/Eddy. 100K or so w/o power for most of the day.

@skinnylatte I've gotten more than a dozen texts, they seem to be just making sh*t up. We're about to miss the most recent 8:15 prediction. And we're down to our last 18Ah of backup batteries, might be going to bed early tonight.

@skinnylatte I'm a bit late to the laksa party, but that looks amazing. Any chance you could give a pointer to a recipe for this style? Looks similar to a laksa/curry mee recipe I saved from rasamalaysia.com a long time ago, but that one seems to have vanished from their site.

@skinnylatte thanks, I think that will tip the scales in Hai Ky's favor for me as well. OTOH, this may simply be justification to eat at both and compare!

@skinnylatte are Hai Ky and Thai Nghiep in SF fairly equivalent, or would you recommend one over the other?

@skinnylatte I haven't looked in a long time, but New May Wah in the Richmond used to have fresh pandan leaves at times.
