Quick question: why is the Pixelfed app not in F-Droid? I know there are other Pixelfed clients in F-Droid (Pixelix, PixelDroid), but I like the official app. The problem is when checking app permissions in the Google Play store, I don't like what I see. Way more permissions than the alternative clients in F-Droid. I solved the problem for myself by appifying the web page in Firefox. Just curious about the omission. Thank you for all the work you put into Pixelfed!

I have been using OSS since the 90's. Back then it might have been true, and there are still some holes in some categories of OSS software, but I wouldn't trade my OSS software for today's closed source software even if someone else was paying for it.

@fesshole I don't answer the phone unless I know the phone number. Years ago when it was humans that called, if they asked if I was the homeowner I would answer "I am a warm ham sandwich". That pretty much ended all calls.

@dansup @PixelFed The thing that drew me to Pixelfed was that it was only about photos. I only want to share my photos and see other people's photos. If I want to chat, I will do that on Mastodon. Apps don't need to be all things to all people. Do one thing and do it well. That is what Pixelfed is, for now. Just my $0.02.

@itsfoss Since the early 90s. It was a PITA back then. Dual booted with Windows for several years. I've been 100% Linux for years now. Installation is dead simple and everything just works. I use Windows for work and it reminds me every day why my personal computers are all Linux.

@dansup Comparing it to Facebook is unkind. I am sure it is missing several things that Facebook offers, such as data mining, toxic groups, a maniacal owner, etc.
