I wrote my legislators and the governor in opposition to a terrible bill regulating the internet that's likely to pass and become law in New York in the next few days (if it hasn't already)

I think this is now the single most published thing I've written. I just hope it amounts to something 🤞🏻

@mike as the admin of a small instance, I definitely feel the need for better tools to allow me to more easily incorporate information like that into my instance's block list without being overwhelmed by day to day reports.

There's a great deal of power for good in actions like yours. We need to be able to harness that across the fediverse.

@quinn I've been watching that struggle play out in my two older kids (both teenagers) for a couple years now. I've been unsuccessful at convincing them it's okay to be different without that difference having a special name, label, or diagnosis.

@evan I'm a qualified yes. It comes down to the size of the paper. My local paper has two full-time journalists and the occasional intern or two. They struggle to keep their plugin-laden WordPress website (that looks like it's from 2010) online. They don't need the distraction of managing an instance.

But certainly most papers of any size should be able to manage it.

@evan I think there's room for situations where the law is passed to demonstrate that the Constitution itself is flawed/immoral and needs to be amended.

@evan I enjoy your polls. I was going to say I enjoyed them more than I should, but there's something about being connected to a group of people that feels wholesome.

I also like that you have the "qualified" options, as reality, particularly moral situations, is so often nuanced.
