I kind of feel like I'm living in an age where every facet or quirk of human experience or personality is pathologized, treated, drugged and hash-tagged as fast as possible.
It's ok to just be a little different, to be yourself and have joys and problems without trying to find them in a medical manual so that people believe they're real qualities. If people won't accept your quirks without a DX, fuck 'em. Ugh. This probably means I'm officially old.

@quinn I think the problem comes from people having a problem to differentiate between a diagnosis and identity. Sure, learning that I have ADHD helped me a lot but turning it into my whole identity doesn’t make sense to me at all.
Maybe it’s just me but I prefer being as complex as possible and impossible to identify with one thing, and end up being called “that weirdo”. 😄

@SamUpstate there's a lot of pressure on the kids to have labels, both because it's a way to be acknowledged and because it's an excuse for having human flaws, and the world our kids are going up in has no room for human flaws.

@quinn I've been watching that struggle play out in my two older kids (both teenagers) for a couple years now. I've been unsuccessful at convincing them it's okay to be different without that difference having a special name, label, or diagnosis.
