    • Signal Nieuws & Tips

@jwildeboer @adriangadientbruegger @AboutSignalNL Please don't intermingle privacy and security. They are two different pair of shoes that should be tackled hand in hand. #Threema comes without propietary libraries if installed over F-Droid (security), doesn't require a phone number (privacy) and doesn't rely one AWS, Google etc. (privacy and/or security, be my guest). #Signal uses post-quantum encryption (security) and is free to use (accessibility). None is better than the other. It all boils down to your and your contacts priorities. Such discussions just scare away WhatsApp users and the like.

@rysiek @ujeenator I use #CalyxOS, too, But, it's January 15th and the patch levels are as such:

    • Platform: 1 December 2024
    • Kernel: 5 December 2024
    • Vendor: 5 November 2024
    • Firmware: 5 November 2024

I would say the 3rd and 4th are due to FairPhone's lack of motivation.

Bugs fixed by January 2025 patch level:

@rysiek @ujeenator I read somewhere that the new logo fixes #fairphone's security update delays and their kernel that came last in a security review some months ago:
    https://www.heise.de/en/news/Researchers-test-the-security-of-smartphone-manufacturers-Android-kernels-9838381.html

So, yes. We customers cannot live without a new logo.

@mattst88 @mherrb Why should disabling IPv6 make the system more secure? Or, do you mean with "benefit" privacy? AFAIK, IPv6 privacy extensions or stable-privacy addresses should be enough.

@phaedral @thenewoil I prefer aggressive offline advertisement over online advertisement with tracking. Offline, at least, they don't know anything about me.

Advertising that targets everyone | Mullvad VPN
Maybe you have seen Mullvad VPN ads in the subway or in the streets. There is a reason why we enjoy to run outdoor ads: traditional outdoor ads don’t collect data or micro-target people.
