Anyone who goes through my post history, knows I work for Meta (Facebook).

I am "Consumer Content Administrative Manager". My primary duties include content appeals, account appeals, account reviews, and some peer review.

It is no surprise that my job depends on people using Facebook. Today, I am going to suggest, you not do so. I can make that suggestion because we have a user base of billions, and I know most people would keep using Facebook even if the Devil ran the company. People are strange.

But if you feel you can truly live without Facebook, do so. Internally, things are changing, and not for the better. You should especially consider leaving Meta if you are a minority, woman, LGBTQ+, trans, or identify as progressive, politically. If facts matter to you, and misinformation is something you do not want to be subject toward, you should especially consider leaving, Facebook.

You have no privacy from Meta, while using Meta. None. I do not care if you believe you disabled a "feature" or "opt out" of something. You only seem to have done so. And even if you're going to continue to use Meta, uninstall the app (all of them). We collect data on you, even when you're not using the app.

Pro tip:

While you can often buy domain names and hosting from the same place, I always suggest you keep these two services separate from each other.

It is also important to note that the domain extensions Dot COM, NET, ORG, INFO, US, and EDU are all govern by the USA. Furthermore, many word-based domain name extensions, for example, Dot Social, are managed by corporations based within the United States.

Be mindful of these facts whenever looking to start your own website.

Personally, I would suggest a Dot SE (Sweden), Dot EU (Europe), or Dot DE (Germany), domain name. These are only examples, and some domain name extensions either require you to be a citizen of the country, or allow you to have a 3rd party agent, which most domain registers are happy to extend as a service. Which is why, for example, I suggest your domain register and web hosting service provider be different from each other (use different providers).

For example, people need privacy, but want the convenience of using 1 corporation for everything. Then they complain how unfair that now empowered, and wealthy corporation is spying on them, selling all their information, and their CEO is funding racist fascist with the money everyone gives them. They can avoid all that, by going elsewhere, and that is what they need to do, but they want someone else to change than themselves.

Do you know what a continued angry customer, and a paying protester, have in common?

They're all empowering the corporation by giving them their time and money. So ultimately, your grievances mean shit.

Corporations speak only 1 language with 1 united voice, and that is, money. You want change? Stop giving them money, and you'll see a world of difference.

Hetzner - Cheap hosting, but not LGBTQ+ friendly and will terminate your services if they find photos of women/men or drawings of women/men, kissing each other. Many Fedi sites in 2024 discovered this the hard way. - See OVH for comparable alternative.

Proton - Seeks to be Google-like with 1000s of happy customers, and 1000s of unhappy customer, who will claim they're a scam. Do you want to take a chance? The company has restructured a few times, and each time, customers have found their services either luckily expanded, or unluckily reduced or missing with no refund. TOS (terms of service) says they can change services and terms whenever they wish, without prior notice, and in this instance, they absolutely mean it. - See Tuta and iVPN for comparable alternative.

Copy, paste: IN, before both the Democratic Conventions (August 2024) and the November 2024 General Presidential Election, and well before people blame old people, young people, white people, black people, women, men, progressives, independents, swing voters, minorities, anyone and everyone, except the fact that Kamala Harris was the wrong candidate to pick.

This post is being made today, July 22, 2024, at 11:40 AM EST (Massachusetts, USA), and I am adding it to my favorites. I encourage you do to do the same for posterity. It has been 24 hours since Joe Biden has dropped out of the race and endorsed, Kamala Harris, and I can already (easily) envision people blaming everyone for Kamala Harris defeat. Unwilling to accept the fact that the problem was, Kamala Harris.

We could have easily defeated, Donald Trump, and if you're reading this post November 6, 2024, the day after the election, it is not the fault of old people, young people, white people, black people, women, men, progressives, independents, swing voters, minorities, or whoever else you wish to blame. The reality is Kamala Harris was a weak candidate who did not inspire people and give hope for the future.

We needed a strong progressive to overcome the strong conservative energy of Donald Trump. We needed someone who was going to make waves, turn heads, and inspire people to unite together. Someone who could have stood on their own, without needing people to protest vote to block or use fear and intimidation.

IN, before all that has happen, and if you're reading this, after the election, I and others called it 24 hours, after Joe Biden stepped aside. We had 100 names from the Progressive Caucus to choose from, but you picked the 1 person, a wishy-washy moderate who dropped out of the 2020 Presidential Primaries, due to their unpopular standing. Whoever you're blaming, we're not to blame.
