Some good software is free, others paid, some are open source, and others are closed source. None of that determines if it is good or not.

And while Vivaldi is not open source, it calls out to check for updates, Widevine updates, and bug reports for a total of 3-4x in the whole day, as opposed to the 4x per hour or more that Firefox and Brave call out, continuously. If you want safety and security and most importantly, privacy, you go with Vivaldi.

@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org As someone who used to help contribute to Firefox, and who, outside the development, made a Linux installer for Firefox ("Firefox Automatic Installer for Linux"), I absolutely hate LibreWolf. -- Why? 🤔

LibreWorlf often breaks things (repeatedly). Then proceeds to blame Mozilla Firefox, even when Firefox was still good. They seldom took responsibility for their own issues and always passed the blame, despite those issues being exclusive to LibreWolf.

This only further hurt Firefox, because you had all these people saying, "just use LibreWolf" while also saying, "Firefox is the problem." But LibreWolf 100% depends on Firefox. They're a soft-fork who has made it clear, they have no intention of ever going independent. That means, when Firefox goes, so does, LibreWolf.

I switched to Vivaldi Browser. It is everything Firefox should have been. Yes, it is Chromium fork, but they do not follow along with everything Google does. Not only do they include their own ad-blocker, but they worked with uBlock to include v3 support going forward, that works nicely alongside their ad-blocker. I even use Privacy Badger alongside both.

If you're not an American, and you were confused on why an American may act as if their laws apply to them, even though they're in your country, that is because it does.

As a US Citizen, if they broke a US Law while overseas, but it was perfectly fine in your country, yet officials somehow found out about it, when they came back to America, they could still be held accountable.

More interesting, is if your business is a Sole Proprietorship, we treat you and your business as one and the same. That means, if you have dual citizenship, between America and Germany, your business will be seen as American. You can claim it is "German" all you want, it will not matter, it is American in the eyes of our laws.

It gets even stranger. If you're not a US Citizen, and you have a Sole Proprietorship, and you sell products and services to Americans, we will still see your business as American, and have historically extradited people who have never once stepped foot in the United States prior.

A normal human sees freedom of speech as a means to inform, educate, express civilized options, thoughts, and maybe even entertain.

An asshole sees freedom of speech as a means to spread hate, cruelty, misinformation, and outright lie, simply because they believe they can.

Nazis once took over, because people were willing to compromise.

Today, people, even ordinary people, are willing to compromise.

Brave Browser, for example, was founded and currently managed by a Nazi. But people say, "that's different". No, it is not.

When you selectively pick and choose products and services founded, promoted, and sponsored by Nazis, you give them clout, you give them credibility, and you even give them money, power, and influence.

By compromising, you become compromised.

Who is promoting Russia propaganda and agreeing with Donald Trump, claiming Ukraine is a dictatorship.

And anytime someone backs them into a corner, they claim "oh, I do not care, I am only being autistic".

There are many people who have disabilities and a disability does not encourage people to promote Russian propaganda and then use the excuse of that disability, whenever they fail to sway people.

The world is not purely black and white, but a lot of gray, and you have to judge these things on a case by case basis.

Ukraine's own government (their version of a congress) suspended the elections because they were being invaded, and still are being invaded. That does not make someone a dictator, it means their term has been extended, legally, due to circumstances outside the control of Ukraine.

And many republics also have laws that say, if the country is actively defending itself from being invaded, elections are suspended. It is important to note that Ukraine's own government (their congress) suspended the elections.

Microsoft and the United States Government have a working partnership. You should consider try using Linux.

For a newbie, I would suggest Ultramarine Linux (KDE Plasma) or MX Linux (KDE Plasma). But ultimately, your goal should be to try using Linux.

If you need to keep a copy of Windows for gaming, that's fine. But still try using Linux too.
