@watchfulcitizen @latenightlinux the overwhelming issue for me, getting people to switch is: specific tools especially for businesses, unfamiliarity and unwillingness (I am not blaming them) to learn something they genuinely are not interested in aka computer stuff.

@watchfulcitizen @latenightlinux I don‘t like that “you shouldn’t have to use the terminal” argument. In the last years I only HAD to use the terminal to repair stuff, where windows would probably require a reinstall or recovery boot. Something the regular user is not able to just as well as using the terminal. Of course this is my experience for regular home users and office work. Granted you need compatible and reliable hardware.

@killyourfm we had a bowl of nuts in the yard for squirrels. Picky as hell. Only took the finest. The rest was lying all over the place. It’s a pity the security camera didn’t catch em.

@killyourfm always liked those sturdy cases around the disc of the MD. Man! I have to touch a cassette now just for the feel 😅

@killyourfm throwing a cassette into the Walkman with one hand and slamming it shut with the other holding it had a real satisfying feel to it. Minidisc too! CD were always so delicate to handle. Nice headphones too!

@killyourfm Sound like quite a burden. I will stuff some books into my backpack to see how that feels. 🙂 My brother in law went the PCT a few years ago but capitulated before reaching his goal, although he is in really good shape.

@killyourfm @trezzer i just got my hands on a stationary MD player and some media. Wish it were a portable player though. Shame it never took off, since portable MD players were so much better then discmans.

@killyourfm am in Germany. Just found it used “like new” from a refurb shop for 4,39€ 👍. Now to fill up the cart with some games for my pile of shame to save on delivery 😅
