I'm going for it. This will be my first thru-hike!

The Oregon Coast Trail, a 363 mile path that runs along Oregon's entire coastline.

Life is too short, the years zip by too quickly, not to chase adventure and the beauty of nature whenever possible. In less than a month, I'll be on that trail.

@reb Hey, a 13 mile walk in one go is still pretty damn respectable!

@killyourfm I read "363 mile path" and thought "pfft that's nothing compared to the Appalachian trail" and then I realised that it's about 350 miles longer than I've walked in one go in my entire life.

@reb As someone without a car (by choice), I can empathize with this. I'm just lucky to have some fantastic public transportation near me. Is it out in nature at least, away from cars and noise?

@killyourfm I've been trying to walk more recently, but finding suitable loops that are accessible to me while I can't drive isn't hugely easy, the best loop I've found by my house is around 6 miles, there's another good one but it's too long for me to do regularly.

@nowherefast It'll probably be a bit lighter than my Yosemite backpacking trip from last year. I'm guessing 35 to 38 pounds with a full load.

@killyourfm How much does the gear, water and food weight you have to carry along?

@nowherefast The PCT is like the Olympics of thru-hiking! That's where i think I'll END, not begin.

@killyourfm Sound like quite a burden. I will stuff some books into my backpack to see how that feels. 🙂 My brother in law went the PCT a few years ago but capitulated before reaching his goal, although he is in really good shape.

Sounds ambitious! How long will it take though? Have fun with the hike and take care Jason!

@graves501 Thanks Andrew. It'll take about 3 to 4 weeks.

I'm building out my itinerary. Fun stuff! Even if I suspect I'll throw out the plan by Day 2 or 3 🤣
