@halcy @ieure @researchfairy @mike yeah, I was hoping to see our instance on the list but alas; they have a form for appealing being blocked but they don't have a form for appealing not being blocked, for some reason

(technomancy@icosahedron.website)'s status on Friday, 28-Jun-2024 07:24:14 JST tech? no! man, see... @apLundell Star Trek diverges from our timeline either with the eugenics wars in the 1990s or the Toronto bridge attack in 2022, depending on which Trek timeline you mean, but in theory Fallout could diverge from a post-eugenics-wars timeline instead of ours?

I didn't realize what a big improvement it was over plain text until I'd had it for a while and gotten used to it but now it makes stock mastodon feel pretty clunky
it also looks like allowing limited replies is on the roadmap for gts 0.17.0 which I'm really looking forward to

I've been slowly shifting over from this account to my gts one, and I've noticed that being on a single-user instance makes you a much lower-profile target for reply guys and spam
I copied the instance blocklist from icosahedron.website into my own instance and that has served me well so far; subscribing to shared blocklists is on the roadmap for the next release but currently all it has is import/export of blocklist CSVs
I really hate the default mastodon UI so I've been using pinafore/tusky since 2018 or so, so to me mastodon and gts feel almost indistinguishable except for the fact that mastodon lacks markdown support, which sucks

it's ridiculously easy if you set it to use sqlite; basically dynamic DNS and NAT are the only complicated parts and those have nothing to do with gts and everything to do with "residential ISPs suck"
gotosocial just keeps getting better and better

at the time it was nearly impossible to get an SBC board that would run on the kind of battery board that could do pass-thru charging; pine64 was the only contender and their boards tended to just randomly stop working after a while (no idea if the situation has improved since then but I should really look into it)

Dan Fixes Coin-Ops (ifixcoinops@retro.social)'s status on Saturday, 22-Jun-2024 05:59:30 JST Dan Fixes Coin-Ops I kept this thing running for like fifteen years because it kicked that much ass
Nice tall 4:3 screen, 1400x1050 (in 2005!), Wacom tablet built right into the monitor, touchpad AND nipple AND stylus, swivel the screen around and turn it into a tablet, press a button and get a vertical monitor (!!!), pull out the optical drive and replace it with a bigger battery, it Kicked, the Ass
After 32-bit architecture no longer cut the mustard I went to a desktop and since then I've been sat around sighing and twiddling my thumbs with my laptop-buying cash bored in my wallet patiently waiting for laptop makers to come to their FUCKING SENSES
