Reading China Mieville's Hugo* award winning "The City & The City" (2009), and it strikes me as a powerful metaphor for 2025: where people occupy the same city but perceive totally different realities, talking past one another - or invisible to one another. 😕

@akamran LOL that could motivate moderators, if they knew their instance was being publicly ranked for things like:

▪ how many instances block them?
▪ how many of their users are blocked?
▪ how many "reports" do they receive monthly vs number of members? What type?
▪ do they actively moderate* LGBTQ hate?
▪ do they actively moderate* racist posts?
▪ etc

🤔 that would have been useful info to have!

* how could these be measure/ranked, tho?

I just followed The Onion @theonion, but it's a conundrum: which list does it belong in?

In the before-times I would have put it under News, to lighten things up. But right now, it's indistinguishable from both news and "news", which defeats the purpose of putting it there.
