@bmacDonald94 John Kennedy Toole was a genuinely tragic figure. A brilliant writer who wrote possible the best American novel of the last century, only to be completely ignored and rejected by everyone in the business. Which led to his death.

I don't think all the pundits and suck-ups who praised him post-mortem were worth a damn, as that Pulitzer surely did him no good AFTER he was dead.

I have been on Mastodon since Musk even POSITED buying Twxttxr. Five/six months before the first exodus from there to here. I still often feel like I don't know the first thing about what goes on here. Partly because of all the techy posts.

I would LIKE to explore the #fediverse a lot more. Particularly Pixelfed and Peertube. @FediTips shows HOW to do that but I need a WHERE. A recommendation of general interest instances that aren't the equivalent of dot social would be good.
