     @selzero For insightful commentary on the horrible bigoted perverted politically driven misogynistic superstition & persecution that was witch-hunting , driven by self-appointed cabals of male religious extremists, not least the ambitious Monarch himself James VI of Scotland, see the understated and thoroughly excellent Lucy Worsley of the BBC. Really, not to be missed. Not least to witness the conclusion; Lucy declaring herself.....'angry'.

     @selzero Given that the existence of witches (at least, the kind they were looking for) still has yet to be confirmed, I'm quite comfortable in saying that no witches whatsoever were burned. Mostly they burned herbalists, midwives, and autistic women.
