how much of a performance penalty is paid if someone adds #Python imports statements inside a helper function body so it can be just copied and pasted around?

I guess the optimal thing would be to add the imports at the top of a module with the helpers so they occur only once when one imports the function, instead of being evaluated each time the function is called, but, in the context of didactic examples it is handy for the learner to have the helper function together with the example... but then I could move the imports to the top... but then I'm lazy, and... so many decisions...

My annual advice as someone who turned a disastrous lifestyle around: if you try to start a dozen new habits on January 1st, you will get overwhelmed and fail all of them.

If you have a list of things like “shower every day”, “go to bed before midnight”, “keep up my duolingo streak” etc, pick ONE, the most urgent one that will improve your life the most, and don’t worry about the others until you’ve gotten the hang of it. Build up to your resolutions over the year

Foi por onde eu cheguei também no Fediverso em 2020, mas como eu já disse aqui, o Mastodon só ficou atrativo pra mim quando passei por uma instância brasileira (no meu caso foi a Ursal.zone). Mas nada disso é necessário se você só quer uma interface mais "avançada" como era o Tweetdeck. Pq o Mastodon tem isso nativamente!

Na página de preferências do Mastodon, vá em Aparência e marque "Ativar interface web avançada".

Ao acessar a home novamente você vai ver uma interface com várias colunas personalizáveis.

Agora, se você gostava da interface do Twitter e queria algo com a mesma pegada, recomendo muito que dê uma olhada no Elk.

Não só é uma ótima interface para desktop, como funciona muito bem como "web app" nos celulares também.
