@steveshives Agree 100%.
Goodness me I'm ashamed and embarrassed for my country right now.

@inthehands @GottaLaff I have issues with this.
1. Conservative Americans will only see this as “evil America-hating liberals” doing this. They will never link this to Trump in the “learning that Trump is bad and that they were wrong in voting for him” sense.
2. Unless this is a “shut it down indefinitely” act, it will not have a sufficiently meaningful impact on the economy to even start the conversation, much less force anybody's hand.
3. It does nothing to deal with conservative America. -

@libreoffice One other point I'd like to make is that, given the current political and Wall Street climate in the U.S., the EU's response through passing the ACI, etc., I think breaking and eliminating dependence upon Microsoft and, in practice, any other American tech corporation, is in national, state, and even city-level security and economic interest.
I think adopting LibreOffice is a good first step, but you also need to switch to Linux, and Germany's own SUSE is an excellent choice.

@libreoffice I love Libre Office. I used it for a bit when I was still a Mac person, and after switching full time to Linux with Linux Mint, I then used it with my job almost every day for six years.
I found building tools in LO Calc was significantly easier than Excel.
Congrats #schleswigholstein for making the right choice!

@sundogplanets Also, you might want to look at Only Office if Libre Office isn't sufficient in trading back and forth in MS Office documents. Personally, I've used Libre Office for years and been very happy with it, but sometimes there's cases where it isn't perfectly compatible. Only Office is supposed to address that.
Any idea which distro you're going to use?
Also... highly recommend you check out both the Destination Linux and Linux Unplugged podcasts. Both are enjoyable and professional.

@Gargron I have to admit I was more than a little concerned about Mastodon when I learned *this* guy was a member of the management team...

@Gargron Well, as Willie Sutton famously said when asked why he robbed banks, "That's where the money is."
Twitter, Instagram, etc., have really become influencer platforms. Facebook, too, though to a slightly lesser degree. Jack Dorsey's new Blue Sky (or whatever he's calling it) could become that as well.
The face of what social media is has changed since the '00s; for the time being, I'd rather be here on Mastodon.

@georgetakei I just got done a little bit ago watching the keynote speakers at the DNC convention tonight. Michelle was on fire! Loved the "black jobs" crack, and that someone ought to tell Trump the one he's going after is a "black job", too.

@WarnerCrocker I'm not surprised. God help us if Republicans take the reins of power, because they will push through laws, policies, and executive orders to ensure they're the only ones who can win elections.
