@stefano@zirias actually I think I have the answer. It won't show up in the normal timelines because it's a reply to an *unlisted* (quiet public) post.
Those are not meant to show up in timelines, only when you open the thread directly. So your public reply is being excluded because it was a reply to a quiet public post. Makes sense.
@SrRochardBunson@BinroHeretic@fcktheworld587 what's worse is that I pretty much cannot taste bitter so IPAs are *really* great for me. I get a full blast of all the flavor notes and sweetness without any bitterness.
@stefano@zirias it's still a reply; there's a concept of direct mentioning / tagging users that does not require you @ them in the text body. I'm looking at this activity right now and it's definitely addressed right on both the Activity and the inner Note Object and the Note does have Jessienab correctly tagged for a mention...
Funny enough I moved down to Florida and the first good NA beer option I came across happened to be from a Wisconsin brewery that was in the same small town as the coffee shop we owned. So amusing.
Have you ever stood in line starting at 8pm just to be able to buy tickets to a beer festival at 6am the next day? It's essentially an overnight drinking party with people cooking out and playing games in the hopes that they can get a ticket to a beer festival that won't take place for 3 more months. People would fly in from the coasts just to get in line for tickets, then fly back in a few months for the event...
How about standing in an icy parking lot for 5 hours when it's far below freezing just to get a chance to drink this year's limited release Maibock while they throw dead fish at you from the roof of the brewery? LOL
Ever driven 8 hours for the chance to get a crazy hoppy beer brewed with honey that only has one batch a year?
@fcktheworld587@SrRochardBunson@BinroHeretic hello, chiming in on this as a former Wisconsinite which is so deep into drinking culture it's hard to explain rationally -- nobody believes it, they have to experience it themselves.
I love beer. Almost any style (pass on browns, tho). I've been privileged to participate (as both vendor and lucky patron) in some of the largest and most exclusive beer festivals in the world.
I love whiskey... and whisky.
The culture drove me away. It just got to be too much.
It's not normal for every other billboard to be about alcohol.
It's not normal for every gas station and coffee shop to be selling hard liquor.
It's not normal for you to be drinking *at* work (ISP/datacenter)
It's not normal for you to be drinking with coworkers or customers 4 nights a week. (I started keeping a log of this, and it was ... eye-opening)
Every family gathering: drinking. Every meetup with friends: drinking.
Church events? Drinking.
It's just... normal. But it's awful.
So I just stopped, cold turkey. Part of it was I have some IBS issues and alcohol would really exacerbate it, so it was exhausting. And I had to keep explaining to friends and family I didn't want to drink anymore. For years they kept asking about it...
So that's over. Gut is in a better place these days. I *can* drink a beer with friends and not get sick over it anyway, but I so dread the next day anyway because alcohol always makes you feel like shit regardless.
Weed has none of that, so I'd much rather smoke/vape/edibles. And I do. Life is so much better.
If you don't want to drink because you think it sucks, just don't. Tell them no. If they don't want to be your friends anymore they're not friends worth having.
