Louis Ingenthron (louis@ingenthron.social)'s status on Friday, 01-Nov-2024 06:02:55 JST Louis Ingenthron @freemo Of course everyone has a right to their opinion on any subject.
But it does seem clear that while men are not unaffected, women *are* disproportionately affected and their voices should therefore hold more weight on the subject.
And the inverse holds true as well. Men's voices carry more weight when it comes to men's issues, such as the legality and ease of access to Viagra.

I could easily see it go either way.

Louis Ingenthron (louis@ingenthron.social)'s status on Wednesday, 30-Oct-2024 08:05:42 JST Louis Ingenthron @freemo Okay, I could see that, but the "sugar" relationship tends to specifically be about a "kept" man/woman who doesn't have to work and gets bought nice things. I think a "sugar baby" having a job on the side would kind of defeat the purpose. So, I'd still be very curious to see some statistics on where they go when they age out.

Louis Ingenthron (louis@ingenthron.social)'s status on Wednesday, 30-Oct-2024 07:55:48 JST Louis Ingenthron I'm getting to the age now where, being single, I'm starting to receive offers to be a "sugar daddy". Much like regular prostitution, I think whatever consenting adults do in private is fine, but the arrangement is simply not for me.
However, it has led me to wonder.... what happens to "sugar babies" when they age out? They'd presumably be approaching age 30 with zero job experience. How do they survive?

I wonder how much of the gain in speed was simply knowledge. Better maps, better managed expectations, more trail experience, etc.

But wait, if only the last one has railroads included, then how did the first three expand so much? I wouldn't think bushwhacking and roadbuilding would account for *that much* of decrease in travel time.

If I was actively having sex with a man and he stopped and wanted to have a penis sword fight, my knee jerk reaction would be to say "dude, that's gay".

Besides, I thought you liked Chase Oliver. What turned you away from him?

Louis Ingenthron (louis@ingenthron.social)'s status on Tuesday, 15-Oct-2024 06:21:29 JST Louis Ingenthron @freemo Yeah, I'm a hundred feet above sea level, so I'm not too worried about my house actually going underwater or anything.
That said, I could absolutely see a house of cards come crashing down if insurers keep pulling out of the state, which is what I'm most worried about in the short-term.

Louis Ingenthron (louis@ingenthron.social)'s status on Tuesday, 15-Oct-2024 05:29:46 JST Louis Ingenthron Part of me is worried that endless hurricanes will drive my house's property value down and maybe I should get out now while it's high.
Then the other part of me knows that there will *always* be a greater idiot who will be happy to buy a house in Florida, even when it's halfway underwater.

If you're not DMing an individual, you're starting an open conversation. That's the entire point of social media.

Louis Ingenthron (louis@ingenthron.social)'s status on Wednesday, 18-Sep-2024 11:55:48 JST Louis Ingenthron @freemo @argv_minus_one @stevebenen I'd think the bigger problem is that smaller co-ops wouldn't have negotiating power while bigger co-ops would need a management structure that would be very prone to corruption and operate not too dissimilarly from the current providers.
Then there would be the thorny questions of "can co-ops buy out or merge with other co-ops?" and "what happens when consolidation runs amok and anti-competitive practices proliferate?"
