Villains are this shady company that has their own students in this academy. Their goal is to recruit other students amd get them hooked on their (steroids/energy drinks depends on if this is Y7 or PG) that turns them into monsters.

Some coach recruits our protags from diff programs to work together to fight the monsters and find out where they are coming from. The battles are like roided versions of normal sports.

Red- The Leader, strong morals and friendly everyman. Probs has a backstory of how his dad holds some record and enrolled in the academy to be just like him

Green - Uptight, a bit grumpy, but cares a lot for the well-being of the team. Wants to win as much as possible to the point that it gets toxic. Might have an arc where she switches to the shady team but defects back after being made to cheat and learns fairplay is more important than winning.

Blue - Lovable goofball that is obsessed with food. Gentle giant. Might have an episode where he lost his lucky kneepad and thinks he lost his mojo so the team tries to find a new mcguffin that leads to them nearly dying but Blue saves them and learns his talent was all his.

Pink - The strategist and calm/cool type. Usually makes up the game plan and does research for the team. Possible love interest for Red

Might have an episode where the enemy steals steals her strategies leaving her distressed that they no longer have a plan. Red comes in and tells her that she's smart enough to come up with something and not everything in life can be predicted with stats. Pink then comes up with a new plan and saves the day.

Yellow - Peppy cheery type. Has the lowest stats but is a team player and is the definition of team spirit. Might have an episode where she feels she doesn't contribute to the team but when the entire academy is under threat of being closed down, she rallies support and gets reassured that everyone on a team matters.

They don't do it because film is more respected as art.

They same shit happens with movies and shows. I can name a bunch of shows and movies that are locked up where the only way to view them is piracy or paying for 4 diff streaming services (If you're lucky). All because they lost money or copyright clusterfucks.

Even the situation right now with TV and streaming is dire as you have all these worker strikes and reboots everywhere.

The starving artist trope is real and it's impossible to have a stable business without sucking cock and selling your soul.

This isn't something new nor exclusive to gaming. It doesn't stop being art just a shitty company holds the distribution rights hostage.

And I think arguing it isn't does a disservice to the goal of games being preserved and playable.

I think forcing a company to host servers could bring issues but definitely there should be a system in place were at the end of a game's life it can be emulated and have private servers.
