They don't do it because film is more respected as art.
They same shit happens with movies and shows. I can name a bunch of shows and movies that are locked up where the only way to view them is piracy or paying for 4 diff streaming services (If you're lucky). All because they lost money or copyright clusterfucks.
Even the situation right now with TV and streaming is dire as you have all these worker strikes and reboots everywhere.
The starving artist trope is real and it's impossible to have a stable business without sucking cock and selling your soul.
