@ai6yr @Catawu New seamount pushing upward, perhaps? Very close to other hotspots.
@ai6yr @Catawu Yeah, I'm an amateur myself, but you're certainly correct that swarms like this very often lead to volcanism rather than a simple plate movement. It's also very close to the island of Anydros. Not very much written about this island. Does not appear to be of volcanic origin from the satellite pics.
@ai6yr @Catawu Thanks. Sounds like we could be in for a show.
@NinaBernstein1 He worked illegally in the US while on a student visa. Thus, there's a really good chance he lied on his naturalization papers. Denaturalize him and deport him back to South Africa. If he were a nobody from Latin America this would be a slam dunk.
@Radical_EgoCom Seize control of the party at the precinct level. That's how the GOP did it.
@kbsez @cstross Isn't Vivaldi Chromium-based? I am looking at switching to LibreWolf.
@kbsez @cstross There are a few annoyances with LW I'm experiencing, but I think it's down to the learning curve.
@kbsez @cstross Thanks for the helpful link. Brave is looking better than I thought it would. Giving it a try as well. I just discovered that I can stream a lot more easily than FF. LW is a bit tricky, I'm finding. Still can't figure out how to stream anything to my chromecast from LW. Brave actually casts the browser window so I can watch with my adblocker enabled. Nice.
The Democratic Party is so bad at what it does it's managed to lose the working class to (checks notes) Donald Trump. Let that sink in.
@gutenberg_org I have a feeling the local folks who lived there at the time already knew about it
@daniel @gutenberg_org It's easy to fall into such tropes. We should all be more conscious of it.
@WarnerCrocker I still have tomatoes ripening here here in Southern Tier NY. Was almost 80 degrees yesterday.
@StillIRise1963 Yes, this is the we're-still-being-nice phase. The next phase is not so nice.
@HistoPol @GreenFire @mbpaz And France, and Germany, and Italy, among others. And they are not half bad, despite their size.
@GreenFire @HistoPol @mbpaz Cumulatively the EU has a pretty good sized fleet. Russia's surface fleet is big but pretty decrepit. Not so their sub fleet, however.
@roadriverrail @jalefkowit @malwaretech @aiefel They won't use them. And if their nuclear arsenal is in the same shape as their conventional stuff, do any of them still work? Nuclear warhead triggers are extremely expensive and difficult to maintain even under ideal circumstances. I certainly don't think we'd want to find out the hard way, but tritium doesn't grow on trees.
@jalefkowit @malwaretech @aiefel All of which was before we found out that Russia is a paper tiger. If they did have the capacity to attack other countries in Europe, which seems doubtful, they certainly don't now.
Anyone with a Daily Kos account/profile should please take a moment to go there and rec this excellent diary. If we want people to ditch billionaire-owned social media for Mastodon, this is a good way to help.
@WarnerCrocker Well, when you hire people who don't understand the basic principles of journalism, it's all part of the same thing. Corporate controls the narrative, and the 'reporters' follow corporate's orders. This is what they were hired to do. It's one of the reasons I left the field.
