@Gargron @carusb @michaelrussell a good caution, though I've only had one instance of international travel where they been resistant to hand checking my film thankfully. It seems to be a much more US specific issue of being denied from everyone I've talked to about it.

@Gargron @michaelrussell The EE-2 is a half frame, so, 72Frames per roll! It's basically my "Point and Shoot" for this trip.
Else, I would. Also, figure I can buy some film there too if I need to...

My trip to Japan is almost here - commence Camera selection paralysis.

I want to bring them all, but I don't want to carry them all, but, I don't want to miss a moment, but I also want to experience everything and also capture everything all at the same time...

*sigh*.

First the camera. Then the lens... I'm privileged to have more than I should.

So far, the plan is my X-T5 w/ 17-70 f2.8 and EE-2 with 3 rolls of film.

But then, I want to also bring:
70-300, and 33 f1.4 for street. And also my OM-1 with 50mm f1.8... and... and...

I used to be much more determined to shoot #CityScapes with unique lighting. For this image, I'd set out on a chilly December evening and trained across town to get to my destination for near midnight - just in time for the full moon to eclipse near the peak of the #NewWestminsterBC Skytrain bridge.

For the wide scene, I ended up liking the image where the moon was entirely obscured by the bridge, creating a unique backlit appearance to the bridge where the stars were still partially visible.

Cold Morning at Chefron (2023)

Fun fact - I took this image about 15min before I fell through the ice into the river below... That was the first of two times I would fall into a river in winter that year. I wouldn't recommend.

Thankfully, I was nearby my car and had a sleeping bag and dry clothes ready to change into! Paid off to be prepared.

Fly! (2025)

Taken from my balcony (it's not fair I know) during the nightly migration of crows from West Vancouver, East, to Burnaby. A fun and daily event to enjoy at sunset.

When I first saw this bird I was absolutely taken aback - it was stunning. The shimmer of blue on its feathers, highlights of greens and purples. Just a gorgeous bird!

Of course, I got laughed at after finding out that this Sparling is effectively the crow of #SouthAfrica. So common that to most it is but a nuisance.

It reminded me of Magpies back home, or even Pigeons. Birds that would be of high aesthetic praise if they were more rare.

@davidimel Probably the new type of scanners that started being rolled out 2-3 years ago. They're much stronger.

I'll never find it again but a guy brought a dozen rolls of various ISO to see how much it was impacted and every roll down to ISO50 had streaking on it.

I found this spot particularly hard to photograph. The shrubbery is nearly completely eroded from visitors - I had to use a small shrub to hide the barren landing and create the illusion the shot was taken from a well grown forest. On top of that, it was hard to even find a good view that didn't include various campers or boats within the frame.

#ThrowbackThursday to the last time I was in the #USA

I did a road trip down the Oregon coast in #2023 with my partner with a turnaround in Portland before looping back through Mt. Hood.

🧵 In retrospect we both felt it was too far and too much to do in the 4 days we had - and aside from Mt. Hood and some falls in the Columbia River Gorge I found photography to be limited to just iconic spots - any recommendations for next time?
