@Gargron@murraylivingston yes! You showed me the believe in film tag about a month ago! Really have enjoyed finding other film photographers on Mastodon, thanks Eugen.
I just launched a new Gallery! The Drakensberg, South Africa. 🌍⛰️
This is the first time I'm sharing something like this to #Mastodon. I hope you all enjoy it :D
In March of 2024 I ventured with 5 others on the biggest trip of my life. Backpacking 🥾 a portion of South Africas mountains. We spent 6 days at 3000m asl photographing the landscape.
First an introduction - I go by Dyptre online, I'm a photographer based in Western Canada with a primary focus on capturing landscapes with a focus on natural and real editing. I shoot #film, I and primarily shoot #fujifilm
If you want to see more - give me a follow here I guess!
@slothrop great additions! I have definitely mentioned the block party conversation to them, not sure why I didn't think to make that it's own specific point.
2/2 🧵the #Fediverse has it's own unspoken rules. I'm hoping others here can help me out together a proper list - in the context of photographers - that would be good to know whenever they do join.
So far I have: - Adding Alt text to images - Day of the Week photo games e.i. #TreeTuesday and #MountainMonday etc. - #Pixelfed vs #Mastodon and how the fediverse works with account tags and servers - Public vs Quiet Public vs Private messages. - CamelCase and why
Yesterday I announced to my #instagram I was done. I'm leaving, and so in a week after I've given my followers time to reach out for my contact info I will be deleting the app.
#Mastodon and the #Fediverse have been such a breathe of fresh air when it comes to social media - thanks all of you people 👊
However, I've realized there are barriers to entry, so, I want to put together a blog for my photographer buds. A list of "best practices" 1/2 🧵
While #Hiking the #Mountains of #SouthAfrica we were treated to a beautiful late evening inversion, and with it, an opportunity to capture a rare scene.
Per my guide, he knows of only one other photographer who has this frame, as it requires the inversion to block light pollution from the many villages below.
From on of my favorite local parks, this is just one of three impressive waterfalls that can be photographed here. It's a truly gorgeous location to explore.
The upper falls are the first major cascade at the top of the park, with access further upstream difficult and very dangerous to access.
Just found out my image is going to be included in the 4th Natural Landscape Photography Awards book! That means that while my image didn't win, it did make it into the top 1% of images!
This is the image submitted. The #NLPA awards focus on natural and true to life editing - so, aside from the b+w conversion this image is as if you were there with me. No AI, no Photoshop.
Looking forward to seeing this printed in person 😍
Throwback to my first ever attempt at shooting the #Milkyway I took on a big task, #Hiking 17km 1800m to the top of a #Mountain in the middle of the night on the hope I would get the shot... I still can't believe I had such an incredible success. This is still one of my absolute favorite #astrophotography photos.
I wanted to share one of my most popular #WaterfallWednesday images. This incredible location is sadly being threatened by development, but for now it remains a beautiful forest oasis on the coast of #Canada
Taken while backpacking the valleys and mountains on the edge of the #canadianrockies with my sibling. This incredible peak became a highlight and constant on our hike through this valley.
If you look closely, you'll see wildflowers scattered across the hills leading to this monstrous #mountain
In 2022 I had an incredible trip up to #Yukon#Canada. I spent two weeks hiking and camping around the Northern Artic, getting rained on, hailed on, snowed on, and of course had a few moments of sun too.
While there, I made a collection of #monochrome images to capture the cloud patterns on the peaks. These are some favorites.
I'm a #Landscape #Photographer with a focus on Western #Canada. My goal is to share the beauty of our planet, while keeping the integrity of the scene true, that means I avoid heavy editing, faking conditions, or using AI. I shoot #RealPhotosofRealPlaces#landscapephotography #naturephotography #Fujifilm
