@elaterite @Gargron @ram Agreed. I made a pixelfed when I first started on the fediverse and decided it wasn't for me. Too much like IG which I was wanting to leave. I quite enjoy these text based conversations that don't happen on a photo forward platform.

If I was to request any specific changes for photos on Mastodon it would likely be in the form of toggling a "show only image/text based post" for those times I want to view images/text only... and shareable lists.

Given the ability to transfer servers on #Mastodon have you, or do you know anyone that has completed this process?

Curious to hear your thoughts on the process and any TLDR issues that may occur.

I'm debating shifting off of the main Mastodon.Social server to a more photography based one so that my explore and live feeds are more relevant.

From that one time I saw the most perfect window scene and felt obligated to capture it.

I was inside the capital building of Antigua #Guatemala and as I walked up the stairs I looked out the stairwell window to see this gorgeously framed flower pot. Someone had to have put it there on purpose! I particularly enjoy the effectively black canvas created by the dark interior behind.

At the time, I couldn't find a single image of this place that wasn't just a snapshot. I probably wasn't the first, but I'm positive I was one of them. Since then a neighborhood has been developed nearby, a 3D image published to maps with a pin, and the spot found by the influencer crowds. It's a shame seeing the state of the area now. I haven't returned for years.

#Throwback to that time I took a vintage folding camera on a #RockyMountain road trip only to find out the camera wasn't quite functional. This is one of two frames that sort of turned out from the rolls I brought. Colours are skewed due to me saving the image in post. But, lesson learned, and a fun adventure still!

Well. Today is 30 complete cycles of our Sun. A milestone number and one I'm told most people find to be their greatest decade.

Thankfully, it doesn't feel that scary. I feel like I've only just finished my quarter-life crisis. So the path ahead already feels brighter and more sturdy.

Here's to looking forward to what may come, and the new adventures I have over the next decade 🎉

In March of 2024 I ventured with 5 others on the biggest trip of my life. Backpacking 🥾 a portion of South Africas mountains. We spent 6 days at 3000m asl photographing the landscape.

@slothrop great additions! I have definitely mentioned the block party conversation to them, not sure why I didn't think to make that it's own specific point.

2/2 🧵the #Fediverse has it's own unspoken rules. I'm hoping others here can help me out together a proper list - in the context of photographers - that would be good to know whenever they do join.

So far I have:
- Adding Alt text to images
- Day of the Week photo games e.i. #TreeTuesday and #MountainMonday etc.
- #Pixelfed vs #Mastodon and how the fediverse works with account tags and servers
- Public vs Quiet Public vs Private messages.
- CamelCase and why

What else should I cover?

Yesterday I announced to my #instagram I was done. I'm leaving, and so in a week after I've given my followers time to reach out for my contact info I will be deleting the app.

For #MountainMonday I wanted to share a special #Astrophotography shot of mine.

While #Hiking the #Mountains of #SouthAfrica we were treated to a beautiful late evening inversion, and with it, an opportunity to capture a rare scene.

Per my guide, he knows of only one other photographer who has this frame, as it requires the inversion to block light pollution from the many villages below.
