mnt touch reform (placeholder name) prototype which @theawesomerandomness put all her craft into making a reality that actually feels much nicer than it is allowed to feel (mostly pocket reform internals, and she designed the case in freecad and 3d printed and hand sculpted here. i wired up the touch overlay and hand made a button board for the side buttons).
uhm, did you know that waypipe with ssh is fast enough to use blender remotely over wi-fi? what? this works much better/faster than x11 forwarding ever did
i removed all 32GB RAM options from our shop for now because of the chip shortage. everyone that ordered it will still get it though! that includes people who bought MNT Reform Next and RCORE on Crowd Supply. Firefly (and others) tell us that they can't get the 32GB chips at the moment. your stuff is now officially rare and sought after! 16GB is now the remaining option. i'm looking into introducing 8GB options but don't have updated prices yet.
not yet clear to me if we'll be able to offer (more, not already ordered) 32gb models in 2026. firefly weren't clear if they get any more of the chips at all or if it'll be just very expensive
also increased ssd prices in our shop now, to hedge against the uncertainty of the next months. you can always opt for no ssd and bring your own, of course.
just did a very painful 2230 1tb+2tb ssd purchase, around 40 of each for reform nexts, to at least have something to ship in early 2026. i hope there won't be another doubling of prices :/
not stocking bulk ssds earlier might be one of the most expensive mistakes i ever made, but lets see. we can still hope for things getting better in the end of 2026. and all because of ai bullshit. hard to not get bitter about this tbh.
btw if you need only a few electronic components in europe and mouser/digi are too expensive in terms of shipping (if you're below free shipping order value), you can try TME (tme.eu)
i'm looking for low-cost options to debug MIPI-DSI signals, a device that receives DSI and that i can poke for information (incl video timing and errors) about the video stream, either in place of a display or interposed. any ideas/experiences? thinking about crosslink NX dev boards (but never worked with crosslink) all the way to 1ghz-rate scope (or would i need 2ghz for ~800mhz dsi HS rate?) or LA and decoding on computer.
