    @gerrymcgovern

    “I learned that LLMs understand what a lie is. They understand when to use a lie,” he explained. “And I learned that they are very competitive and that they would do whatever it takes—including lying bluntly to your face—in order not to lose.”

    I think he missed the point. LLM's don't "understand" anything. They don't "compete" or "lie", because they have no actual intelligence. They only bullshit. That's their only job: to statistically guess an answer. No thinking involved.

    @gerrymcgovern and I think this is where most people are -- they continue to think that LLM's can think, reason, and make choices -- rather than only statistically guess at the next letter, and the next letter, and so on.

    I feel like we need mass education because people have been lied to by companies to believe that "artificial intelligence" includes "intelligence." That's science fiction.

    Please stop making bad HTML forms. I know you really want to. Stop. I know you want to add really strict name validation. Stop. I know you want to add really strict email validation. Stop. Stop breaking HTML forms. I know you want to be clever. Stop. Stop making really bad HTML forms. Stop. Just let the browser do what it wants to do. Use proper input types. Do some lightweight sensible validation. Then validate server-side. Stop making really bad HTML forms. Please. Stop.

    It's so widespread that people make HTML forms and then FUCKING break them so they can't be filled out. Stop.

    @dalias but car manufacturers are already peak shitty, as they harvest and steal so much personal data and sell it to third parties. That's practically their main business: selling stolen consumer data to third parties.

    Is there a Mastodon server for software engineers? Not specifically only PHP engineers, and not only front end developers, and not only infosec people... just like... software engineers?

    @annika but like what user actually requested AI in Firefox? Yeah I realize the company decided to do it, but due to what request from users? I feel like it's due to "because we think it's what users will want if we can concvince them to use it".
