Gitea federation isn't there yet, so GitHub is the only viable option.
@RL_Dane @Codeberg Codeberg is good, but is starting to become the centralized non-GitHub and non-GitLab forge. Replacing a single forge with another single forge isn't a solution... even then, Codeberg has a lot less users than GitHub.
So yeah, Gitea federation is needed, but it's not here yet, so GitHub is basically the only option if you want contributions.
