Fediverse, give me these...

Catchphrases or sayings you have with friends or family that are totally unique to you. Nobody else knows them but it's shorthand for something that those in the know understand, and are still in use.

One example of mine is "everything you like". Basically it means accept what you're given, or, it will be fine, go with it.

The origin is a Turkish takeaway/takeout place in London when we were young. You'd ask the owner, What's in this? and the answer would be a list of random and not exactly accurate ingredients, followed by the phrase "everything you like".

Both a reassurance and a sales pitch. Everything I like? How can I refuse! I'll take two.

Sun is shining, in a shady spot with a nice breeze, cold drink in hand and 300 people in a Reggae crater (I refuse to believe it wasn't created solely for this purpose. Step down geologists, you won't change my mind), surrounded by trees, everyone just oving the music.

A couple of years ago we lost the TV remote. Searched everywhere for it, no sign, a proper mystery. We began to assume the dog had got random and hid it in the garden, though normally that would be shoes or the occasional teddy, she never showed any interest in the remote.

A week later Mrs B got a message from a guy in Glasgow, enquiring if we had lost our TV remote? WTF, minds blown, she replied yes.

So it turns out Mrs B had been selling some old stuff on eBay and apparently whilst packing items up, on our coffee table, she had also packed the remote in one of the boxes.

He sent it back bless him.

Innocent question. A loaded question, but innocent/interested nonetheless.

Now you'd think it would get a little French pronunciation, Fer no. Nope, the locals say Fer nux, which sounds like Del Boy speaking French to me.

Overalls and jumpsuits are pretty cute, particularly on gals (cancel me already, don't drag it out, I've got a lady mechanic fetish, deal with it).

Anyway, the idea of an article of clothing you have to completely remove/lower to have a piss seems a hassle.

At a music festival, in an all in one or dungarees, I'm not hugging you, no matter how long its been. Keep your piss straps away from me.

I'm not having a pop at anyone who does this, and I completely understand the urge to do so, but when I see "these opinions are not those of my employer" or the like, in people's bios on social media these days it seems antiquated.

Firstly, unless you're an official account of theirs that's probably taken for granted.

Secondly, if you say something the company doesn't like they'll distance themselves from you publicly anyway regardless of disclaimers.

Thirdly, and this is the one that gets me the most; you're entitled to be yourself. Your employer doesn't own you. The assumption that what you say or think is a reflection of a business that pays you to do specific things for some of your day isn't real. They don't represent your beliefs and you don't represent theirs. They can and will cut you off as it suits them. Be the same. Remember that.

Companies are not people. Loyalty needs to be earned and maintained. I've been very loyal to some companies but it's the people, not the name or logo, that keep me wanting to be part of something.

If you feel you can't be you, because of fear of your employer, maybe it's them not you.

(EDIT: I just want to reiterate, this is not a criticism or mocking of people who put this in their Bio. I completely understand. In many cases rightly so, I just want to highlight why the need to do so is wrong, in my opinion)

This seems like a good moment to mention a resource for parents of children in the UK with SEN (special educational needs) or disability. They provide guidance and legal advice to help children get the SEND support they are entitled to.

Scientifically, I think it's a mix of how people pronounce it and what they want to call Piers Morgan. I'm not going to judge, only encourage people, for purely scientific reasons.
