@jameshjacksonjr Indeed. I blocked the domain as soon as I heard Threads had federated. Others have explained the situation far better but its not really a question of a group making decisions on behalf of the Fediverse. Through lack of effective moderation by Meta, Threads is already breaking rules most servers within the Fediverse have, mastodon.social included. Domains have been defederated for far less, which is why many of us feel Meta has been given a free pass.

It would be easy enough for anyone to sign up to the likes of Facebook if they wanted to, afterall. Safe spaces need to be protected.

However, my issue is at such a fundamental level I am not sure I'll be able to overcome it. I feel this could end-up being the embrace, extend, and extinguish moment for the Fediverse, unfortunately.

My leaving won't be felt by @Gargron or anyone else but I have to do what is right for me. Whereas I have blocked the Threads domain, I feel the very nature of the Fediverse has changed and no amount of mouthwash is going to take away the taste..
