@jameshjacksonjr@evan Yes, many of us are here because the Fediverse is meant to be a safe space. It would be easy enough for anyone to sign up to the likes of Facebook if they wanted to, afterall. Safe spaces need to be protected.
@richardpascoe I thought about it over night n your right 100% they have got a free pass, so i just blocked it as we cant let them come in and take over our safe spaces here. If we wanted to be on corporate social media thats where we would be, but we arent we chose this amazing place called mastodon,Im also on Pixelfed and Lemmy and really enjoy chatting with all the people ive met here over last 5 years . For me it all started 11-12 years ago back when i was on identi.ca it was run by @evan
@jameshjacksonjr Indeed. I blocked the domain as soon as I heard Threads had federated. Others have explained the situation far better but its not really a question of a group making decisions on behalf of the Fediverse. Through lack of effective moderation by Meta, Threads is already breaking rules most servers within the Fediverse have, mastodon.social included. Domains have been defederated for far less, which is why many of us feel Meta has been given a free pass.
@richardpascoe and I believe if you want you are able on your own to block threads.net so that you will not see any stuff from there I kind of like that business model that way they get the federate in those of us that don’t want to see any of that stuff don’t have to and just to be clear, I’m one of the ones that isn’t sure about it either but I feel that is the best way I’m taking a wait see attitude, but I know I can block that server or any server for that matter in the Fediverse if needed
