The tone in my writing often lives somewhere between sincerity and understated self-deprecation/irony, but I am aware that it can come across as eg accusing. Sorry if that was the case.

Sometimes when I get up in the morning I see little paw prints all over the stove and get terrified. I know there are some built-in security functions for that, but still. Horrifying.

gom (they/them) (hider@sonomu.club)'s status on Thursday, 21-Mar-2024 21:28:03 JST gom (they/them) @luka @flavigula Easy to wipe off, sure. But a design w/ removable mechanical knobs should be as easy to clean.
Maybe there are less bad models than the one I have. But I find myself being hindered every day by this interface. When I cook it's like when I play music live - a lot of things happening simultaneously. Losing the tactility of mechanical knobs messes that up. Also: greasy or wet fingers is a common thing when cooking, I suppose, and that doesn't go well w/ touch surfaces.

gom (they/them) (hider@sonomu.club)'s status on Thursday, 21-Mar-2024 21:27:55 JST gom (they/them) At some point in time, a group of people had a meeting in which it was decided that a kitchen #stove with a #touchbased only interface is a good idea. This is one of the worst examples of #design I can think of, and it should be more or less obvious to anyone who's familiar with the work of cooking meals (for more than one) each and every day. I'm pretty certain none of the meeting participants have any experience at all in that department.
I guess there is such a thing as kitchen tech bros.
