But on a more worrying note, it's awful ageist of you to think that once one reaches a venerable age that they should lay down their arms or even want to. Despite being so tired I cut a piece of fabric in completely the wrong place and thus needed to patch it back together. This project is going well and is great fun.

I find myself with the civ problem, only instead of one more turn it's, "just .. one... More... seam...."

After reaching the point of being completely done with jeans that don't last without getting holes I have taken matters into my own hands and made my own heavy duty jeans.

Ok, Today I managed to draft, mock up, and cut the pieces of a modern interpretation of a medieval Kirtle. Tomorrow we sew.

@valhalla fair enough, I'm probably just biased because I can pull off the empire line, unlike the 1920's "what if I had the figure of a 13 year old boy" look.

@Anneheathen I could do that but I really like the idea of making an exact copy. It does need to be something I would actually wear though. Maybe I just need to do more research and find a style that works for me. Or do 120 years back so I could at least put off the 20's

@Anneheathen 1905 would be early Edwardian so trumpet skirt, blouse with lace, still a poof at the top of the sleeves but no where near as big as the late Victorian.

@valhalla well I do actually like regency fashion. It wasn't really much like the shapeless things on period dramas. Especially the court dress. What queen Charlotte insisted women wear was actually bat shit crazy, it was like wearing a table under your boobs, and I love it!

Recently I had this idea. This crazy idea.

What if every year for the rest of my life* I make one outfit from exactly 100 years before. The fashion history lover in me thinks this is a great idea and the seamstress in me is down to clown but my vanity is not. The reason being that I actually like my figure and the classic 1920's silhouette is, well, 2 by 4 flat.

*Or untill I live long enough that I come around to what I own already.
