Recently I had this idea. This crazy idea.

What if every year for the rest of my life* I make one outfit from exactly 100 years before. The fashion history lover in me thinks this is a great idea and the seamstress in me is down to clown but my vanity is not. The reason being that I actually like my figure and the classic 1920's silhouette is, well, 2 by 4 flat.

*Or untill I live long enough that I come around to what I own already.

@Bridgemakes at least we're almost halfway through the 20s, and then things are going to improve?

anyway, what is it with the early years of a century and fashion? I'm looking at you regency dress!

@valhalla well I do actually like regency fashion. It wasn't really much like the shapeless things on period dramas. Especially the court dress. What queen Charlotte insisted women wear was actually bat shit crazy, it was like wearing a table under your boobs, and I love it!

Bring genuine court dress to Bridgerton you cowards!

@Bridgemakes I just can't get the whole raised waistline thing, it personally offends me :D

(no, I don't have a *valid* reason for not liking it, it's just taste)

(I agree that English court dress of the time was, indeed, *a thing*)

@Anneheathen 1905 would be early Edwardian so trumpet skirt, blouse with lace, still a poof at the top of the sleeves but no where near as big as the late Victorian.

Narrator voice: It was at this moment Bridget realised that she she knew the major elements of ever decade of fashion since 1800. Like knowing all the original Pokémon in order and the words to every song on the 90's Simpsons her brains ability to absorb useless information strikes again.

@Anneheathen I could do that but I really like the idea of making an exact copy. It does need to be something I would actually wear though. Maybe I just need to do more research and find a style that works for me. Or do 120 years back so I could at least put off the 20's

@Bridgemakes yeah, I definitely get the appeal of making you exact copy. Now I have to go look up fashions from 120 years ago to remind myself what they might look like!

@Bridgemakes this is such a fun idea! Maybe you could do something inspired by the time so that you could make changes that so that it fits like you want it to

@valhalla fair enough, I'm probably just biased because I can pull off the empire line, unlike the 1920's "what if I had the figure of a 13 year old boy" look.
