More and more people: "David, why do you still care about Covid?"
Me: "Many reasons, but mostly this one (it messes up your immune system too.)"

Japan. 6 a.m. 28°C.
This is fine.
Not exactly in Setouchi, but close enough, and with a strong connection to Naoshima for obvious reasons:
Just a picture of Covid being over in Japan.
See the grey line? It flatlined when the government decided to throw all Covid data collection out the window, told that Covid was over, and when people started to stop masking.
See the red line? That's the excess mortality rate.
I wonder what is happening.
🤷♂️
@Dana What do you mean?
Isn't it just "culture shock?"
This pesky virus... Refusing to go away despite the government whisking it away with some magical thinking...
I feel like I'm talking like a recovering addict, but most of my friends (my offline friends, but who live on the other side of the planet) are still all on #Twitter (and never settled here) and with Facebook becoming unusable, I talk with them less and less, and well... I miss them... I went to my Twitter account today, and they were all there and I don't know what to do. Should I reactivate an account there and have it private or something? I don't want to, though. Why can't they come here?
@JapanProf A few years ago, I used to say that US Republicans were a death cult. I was wrong. The United States as a whole is a death cult.
How insane has the world gone? There's a cricket around my house tonight.
Crickets are not supposed to come out before late August.
@dansup Yes, and I disagree with both. The Fediverse is opt-out by default and by design. That's its whole point and raison d'être.
People who think otherwise (see the whole drama with the BlueSky bridge the other day) should maybe do some soul-searching and ask themselves why they're here.
Oh well...
You seem like a great guy, you're building a great platform. It just baffles me that you seem to not want to be discovered by the people who are the most likely to use it. 🤷♂️
@dansup Unless you have changed your mind, the last time I saw you talk about it, you said that communication with Threads would be limited by default, which would de facto prevent Threads users (100% of them being Instagram users) from discovering PixelfFed, right?
Or did I misunderstand?
Should I reactivate my PixelFed account?
Reasons to do it:
- The UI is so beautiful.
- Reach new people.
- It could be easier to share some pictures over my other Fediverse accounts.
Reasons not to do it:
- I'm trying to have and use fewer accounts, not more.
- The whole "we don't want to federate with Threads" thing that really aggravates me.
Hmmm... 🤔
