@SuperDicq@minidisc.tokyo@SweetCoffy@grimgreenfo.rest Kind of? I mean yes. OpenJDK still exists because the code was licensed under CDDL. The promises sun had to expand that was never delivered. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_(software_platform) I argue that Java did go through open source -> closed source, since OpenJDK split from Oracle's JDKs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenZFS OpenZFS was originally an implementation of ZFS that was released under OpenSolaris. I think that it very much fits the bill considering that OpenSolaris was supposed to be open but oracle took the open versions and made them private again https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_Solaris#Development_release I think that OpenSolaris, OpenZFS, and OpenJDK belong on the list. If Redis belongs on the list when Redis source code is still available and when people are forking the project to recreate stuff I believe that is justification for OpenSolaris, OpenZFS, and OpenJDK to belong on the list. Redis started out by making paid plugins, and enterprise support regarding it despite being open source (until switch of licensing).
@icedquinn@blob.cat i feel like the only way to avoid this is to just not have the nsa going after you as a target of interest. i don't think there's really stopping them if they're willing to intercept stuff to that level. i mean i knew this was one of the reasons why yubikey offers a service to make sure there's no chain of ownership compromise like this.
@icedquinn@blob.cat once you're on their radar i don't think there's really anything you can do to get them off your back apart from just becoming a rural farmer and living the rest of your days avoiding anything with a semiconductor.
i still can't believe that this shit is buried with time and nobody cares about it anymore. i highly doubt that intelligence agencies stopped doing this, it's just now we don't really know what their methods are.
it's still dystopian to me that yea we just kinda accept that intelligence agencies will literally just hack into consumer product manufacturers and get their hands on all that. i mean realistically what are you going to do i mean the nsa is fucking scary there is not hiding from them if you are targeted by them. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2014/05/photos-of-an-nsa-upgrade-factory-show-cisco-router-getting-implant/ like they will just fucking backdoor your network equipment lmao
