@lmk@simon As stated in the article it is mainly about database design. You want to have time stamps in your data that are consistent over the globe. That's why you use UTC or Unix time. There are pitfalls, but the article suggest another layer above the UTC normalized storage and only for 'human facing' times, especially regarding events. I think it is still a good idea (and advice) to normalize time stamps for technical purposes, like log entries. It seems you have another take on this?
@jeffowski I don't get why we still belive in religions. I did study them a lot and it is always the same pattern. Wise words are perverted by the reigning cast to maintain power. In the 21st century we should be ready for something new. Btw, I think a lot of people could miss, that Jews, Christs and Moslems pray to the same god and Jesus was a reincarnation of Vishnu (as some believe) and all are stories born in our minds.
@JessTheUnstill@kevinrns@stefano@TomAoki Yes, I second that. We have companies as customers and we had no one with a hack on cloud systems. We had several ones with incidents, who run their own servers 'due to security reasons'. You need a really capable team, a CISO and SIEM solutions to keep up with the threat actors. Most companies do not want to spend some budget on any of this.
Way too long to write here :) I've lived a couple of lives that have led me to become a CTO and a farmer on a quinta.I'm here for the tech and science community and for kind people with interesting minds.
