That said, I find the MastAdon misspelling interesting, because to me it's obvious that it's not spelled with an A because I'd pronounce that differently, but apparently a lot of speakers pronounce these two spellings the same. I wonder if it's native English speakers generally, or perhaps to do with dialects.

@randahl And aside from the blatant racism, it was also clearly about allowing mass surveillance through facial recognition. Fear really made us accept the most shameful changes to our society.

I don't pretend to know what really happened behind the scenes with #Biden, what's going to happen, who's going to win, who has the best chance of winning, who would be best if they won ... and anyone who pretends to have any kind of certainty on these questions should probably be viewed with suspicion. I just know that this kind of chaos at a time like this makes me intensely worried. #USPol

I worry especially that Republicans will abuse this situation to keep the Democratic candidate off ballots in swing states, and anyone saying "They can't do that! The law is very clear!" have clearly been living in a cave for way too long and should probably go catch up on the last 8 years before opening their mouth. #USPol

Again, I don't know what's going to happen, but I do know giving up is NOT an option. Unless Democrats pick Musk or ChatGPT or some other obviously insane option, I'd tell Americans to vote for the Democratic candidate no matter what. A dead, Ebola-infected monkey would be a better president than Trump, and that's not hyperbole. #USPol

Just heard someone on the radio bemoan how #Eurovision was created to bring Europe together, regardless of beliefs, cultures, etc. — all different peoples happily singing together — and how it doesn't feel like that this year.

Why yes. Perhaps because Eurovision was created to bring Europe together AFTER the defeat of the genocidal, fascist nation. It wasn't created to bring people together WITH the genocidal, fascist nation.

@futurebird My dad recently asked me how to cut the beginning from a song & use the rest as a ringtone. Turned out the "song" was a link to a YouTube video.

My brain just went blank ... maybe if he installs YouTube on the phone, it'll let him remix the video & download ... no, probably not ... maybe he can get youtube-dl & ... never mind, no way I can explain all that to him.

Sometimes I think it's also just getting harder and harder to actually help. Everything's so closed off & limited.
