remembering the time i was adding a scaler to midboss and i implemented scale2x but instead of doing full equality i added a customizable tolerance for considering pixels equal cause midboss has 32-bit color and a lot of gradients
i realized that this made the scaler work way better and give really nice results with the right threshold set, so i emailed the original creator of the algorithm with my discovery and he basically told me to go away because there were newer, better scalers available and he wasn't interested :|
saying anything meaningful on bluesky is so hard, you just don't get enough words! the only things you can easily post there are pointless nothings or snitty snipes. trying to talk about anything messy or nuanced just becomes completely impossible due to context collapse
Mastodon should get a team of game developers to volunteer to give feedback and suggestions on their UX
In fact many non-games should do this. But non-games engineers seem to think game developers don't know anything about anything that doesn't directly apply to games even though "our game has the slightest of micro jitters occasionally due to the performance only being 99.9% flawless" and "if the UX vibes are even ever so slightly off nobody will ever use our software and we'll get horribly roasted in the user reviews" are literally existential threats to us

wow people who wanna believe covid is over really love painting those of us who've actually read the research on the long term health effects of covid as somehow the same as anti vaxxers huh? 🙄
"A doctor has issued a stark warning that the XEC variant of Covid-19 could bring back the dreaded masks and social distancing"
idk man maybe the thing to dread is the debilitating airborne blood plague, not the act of putting on a fucking mask. maybe this attitude is exactly why things are turbofucked right now
Kitsune Tails is on the shortlist for the Melbourne Queer Games Festival Awards! :D First time a game of ours has been shortlisted for an award, so that's really cool
giving the *gestures* everything, it's getting harder and harder to tell myself that my fondness for retro games and hardware is really nostalgia and not because things were actually better
EDIT: i don't mean only gaming, i mean general computing
